Only the emergency room was open at night, and people occasionally passed by in the cold waiting room.
Jaen took Cici and sat her down in the waiting room: "Stay here while I go to the doctor's office to see if the doctor is there."
"Yeah."
"You're so good!"
She didn't have the energy to ignore him, she felt cold and hot, and she was tired of opening her eyes.
Jaen said, "I can't believe you don't want to come to the hospital, no one even knows you're fainting in your room." Then he shook his head and walked away.
Cici closed her eyes and sat in the chair for a while, feeling the door of the emergency room being opened again, and the cold wind rolled in the crisp air.
She lowered her head and wrapped her clothes tighter around her body when she heard someone behind her say, "Go sit down, I'll see if the doctor is available."
She was instantly numbed by a rush of cold and heat, and every nerve was tensed together.
The voice continued, "Go sit over there."
"Why does the doctor favor ......"
The person he was talking to had a tone full of impatience, yet abruptly paused.
"What's wrong, Cici?"
For most of the past half year, Cici had premeditated countless failed chance encounters, almost making her determine that if the encounters were not deliberately arranged, even the most familiar people could silently and completely disappear into another person's world.
But now such frequent chance encounters make her want to laugh again.
So if this was fate, then what next?
She inclined her head towards Cici and Eric, the corners of her mouth were sarcasm that could not be hidden.
Little Cici shrank at the cold light in Cici's eyes before she remembered to cover up: "I ......"
Eric looked at her suspiciously.
"You go find the doctor, I'll find a place to sit by myself." She pushed Eric sharply, urging, "Go."
Her abnormal two days in a row made Eric no longer able to resist pretending he didn't notice: "Why are you weird these days?"
"Not at all?" She sheepishly avoided his gaze and pushed him again, "Go, I'm sick."
Eric held on for a rare moment without moving.
"Cici," came another person's voice from behind the two.
Little Cici turned around and saw an unfamiliar face.
Yet Eric didn't seem to find it strange.
It was Jaen who had come back for Cici.
Jaen felt that something was wrong and subconsciously looked at the seat where Cici had just sat, it was empty and there was no one there.
Cici was sitting in the same place, watching the three of them quietly, without moving or speaking.
"Boyfriend is here?" Jaen's voice pulled her attention back.
Little Cici nodded her head in uncertainty.
He smiled down: "Then I'll withdraw first."
Little Cici inexplicably did not know what to do in response.
Jaen's face had a look that only onlookers could understand. When he was far away, Eric asked indifferently, "Having a good time with your new friends?"
Little Cici looked at the direction Jaen disappeared, and then looked at Eric in front of her, and could only continue to nod.
Eric looked down at her, his lips pursed into a straight line, and then walked inside.
Little Cici sat down next to Cici in a daze.
Because of the fever, both of their faces were pale with an unhealthy flush.
She glared at Cici, dissatisfied: "Why didn't you come over and help me just now? I almost wore it."
"He's angry."
Little Cici was puzzled: "What?"
"Eric is angry."
"How can that be!" Little Cici laughed at her, "What's the point of being angry, Eric is just like that, he's all palsy-faced to everyone else." She made a face just like Eric: "That's it. Oops! You don't understand ......"
Cici looked at her without saying anything.
"I'm sorry ......"
Cici was not in anger, she was little Cici, she understood all her feelings and thoughts. A year ago she was the same way, can't read people's minds, can't think differently, the world has so many things for her to take for granted, just like she thought Eric had to be himself, she never thought Eric would be jealous of her. If it weren't for the struggle of being alone in the workplace over the past six months, perhaps she wouldn't have grown up by now.
She leaned back in her chair, "Remember to explain to Eric."
"Explain what?
"That guy's name is Jaen, we met by chance, just ordinary friends."
"It's okay, Eric won't care!"
Cici looked at her again.
Little Cici scrunched up her neck: "Oh ......"
Neither of the two said anything, and there was silence for a while.
Cici exhaled hot air and smiled: "You drove away the person who accompanied me to the doctor's appointment and deprived me of the opportunity to see the doctor. What do you say?"
Little Cici froze, completely unsure of what to do.
Cici shook her head helplessly and just wanted to say it was okay. A sudden burst of warmth hit her side, and then Eric's arm, with the smell she knew best, brushed past the tip of her nose and hugged little Cici on her left side.
She heard him ask gently, "Why are you frothing here?"
Little Cici was obviously startled by his sudden appearance and looked at him in horror: "I don't have ......"
"Dr. Chen has no patients right now, I'll take you there." He took her into his arms to test the temperature: "Why is it even hotter? Hold on a little longer, a fever reduction injection will be fine."
Little Cici "mmm", peeking at the Cici who has been lowering his head, whispered: "Just now that person is a common friend, by chance to meet. Don't misunderstand."
Eric was a little surprised, scratching her nose: "actually learned to explain?"
"I'm not afraid that you'll get mad at me for misunderstanding."
Eric laughed and shook his head, holding her by the arm as they walked away.
The back of the two disappeared in front of the corner, little Cici also smilingly turned back to Cici than a victory gesture.
Cici did not move.
She knew that it was Cici's Eric, not her Eric.
She used to believe that the melting icebergs would flood the continents and blue flowers would bloom on the rocks, while her relationship with Eric would be as strong and everlasting as the icebergs and rocks.
Just like she thinks the earth will always exist, but one day it will, suddenly, be destroyed.
She didn't believe it.
Cici leaned back in her chair and covered her eyes with her burning arms, Eric's departure was like a nightmare that came out of nowhere in the afternoon, and she always felt like she just had to wake up. As soon as she woke up, the cold, stranger-like Eric would disappear and be replaced by the man she knew.
But now the familiar him was standing right in front of her, and yet he was a more distant presence.
Little Cici beamed and sat in front of Dr. Chen, kicking the potted plant not far away with her foot: "I'm not getting the shot, you watch."
Dr. Chen frowned: "It's new, don't kick it."
She ignored it and continued to kick it, causing the potted plant to shake and fall.
Eric gently gave her a warning look and warned, "Cissy."
"A few kicks won't kill you." Little Cici skimmed and withdrew her foot: "How much longer do we have to check?"
Dr. Chen put away his stethoscope, gave her a meaningful look, and suddenly asked, "Why don't I see you with your new watch today?"
"What new watch?"
Dr. Chen didn't say anything, but smilingly entered information into the computer: "Didn't I show it off last time when I examined you?"
Little Cici was still confused: "Showing off a new watch?"
Eric's eyes faintly moved to the abnormal Dr. Chen, who immediately smiled and explained, "I'm teasing Cici! What are you nervous about?"
"What?"
Eric patted her shoulder, "Nothing." And to Dr. Chen, "It's late, I'll take her back to rest early."
Dr. Chen continued typing on the computer, "The only thing that won't be given is medicine. Prescribed a box of antipyretic medicine and some cold medicine for Xixi. It's not a big problem, but if the fever doesn't go down tomorrow, then the fever reducing injection still needs to be given."
Little Cici nodded impatiently.
Dr. Chen suddenly added: "Although you are sick today, your body condition is much better than last time."
Even if little Cici was slow, she realized that Dr. Chen seemed to have something in his words. The words that were already on her lips were swallowed because Cici's cold face suddenly flashed in her mind. But the discomfort in his heart could not be swallowed, a face half black and half blue, continued to sit on the chair, coldly staring at Dr. Chen.
Dr. Chen hurriedly handed the medical card to Eric: "Take Cici to get the medicine, go back early."
"I'll wait for you here." Little Cici sat still: "I'm not feeling well, I don't want to go."
Eric shook his head helplessly: "Don't bully Dr. Chen."
Little Cici grinned: "Don't worry, go now!"
However Eric's footsteps just disappeared at the end of the corridor, she threw her phone onto the table, "What do you mean?"
"Eric told you not to bully me."
"Bully you?" Little Cici snickered: "What do you mean you've been sneaking around all night? Why are you beating around the bush if you have a question?"
Without waiting for Dr. Chen to speak, she pressed further: "What are you testing?"
"Sisi." Dr. Chen pulled away, "You don't think too much."
"Don't you take me for a fool!" Along with this angry roar, little Cici swept all the documents placed aside to the floor: "What do you want to say directly!"
Dr. Chen's brow furrowed deeply, and while bending down to pick up the files, he explained, "A few days ago I went to Eric's office to see you, and you brought a pink watch with a thin strap that suits a girl of your age. I hadn't seen it before, so I asked about it at the time."
Little Cici looked at him warily, "What does this have to do with those inexplicable words of yours tonight?"
Dr. Chen suddenly looked up at her, met the little Cici straight look at his eyes, and quickly lowered his head: "I have not seen you with well not, so I asked a few more questions."
"Then what?"
"Then a male member of the department came in to send documents, the conversation was interrupted." Dr. Chen picked up the last piece of paper and stood up, smiling at her: "I also want to buy a piece of the same model for my girlfriend, so today I want to ask you where to buy. I didn't expect you didn't bring it."
Little Cici hugged her arms and sneered, "Dr. Chen."
She paused with a storm hidden in her eyes, "That watch, the dial is white with gold trim, the strap is black, and the style is unisex, the strap is not thin."
A trace of doubt flashed in Dr. Chen's eyes, which he quickly covered with a smile, "That was my misremembering."
Little Cici's smile grew wider: "Eric is coming back soon, I don't want him to see me get mad. And I don't have much strength today, so be honest?"
Dr. Chen looked worriedly at the table he had just finished organizing: "Let's put it this way, your various states that day were very different from your usual state, especially your body was not at all the state it had been properly conditioned for. As a doctor, I know that's very wrong."
"So?"
"I wanted to alert you to the possibility that there might exist someone who looks a lot like you ......"
"Hahahahahahahaha!" His words were interrupted by little Cici's loud laugh: "Dr. Chen, don't you think you're ridiculous?"
Dr. Chen pushed down his glasses and poured a cup of hot water for little Cici and put it in front of her, "Come, come, don't be angry, little ancestor. Maybe I've been watching too many messy movies lately, see if I can apologize to you?"
Little Cici black face, but at least not angry again.
"But that watch I really think is good, if not interrupted by the delivery of documents, I wanted to ask at that time, where did you buy it?"
Little Cici took back the phone and looked down to play: "Take your time to find it yourself."
