I was in bed but couldn’t sleep. It’s been hours since we got home from shopping, but I couldn’t bring myself to sleep. Adrian’s kindness lingered in my head. I was about to close my eyes when I heard knocks on the door.
I got up and opened it. I was surprised when I saw Adrian. His face showed worry. “What happened?”
“I’m sorry, Lily. Can you pack your things now? We will leave in 2 hours.”
“Why? What’s wrong? What happened?” I’m confused.
“My father is in the hospital. My mother just called me. She said my father has to undergo surgery. We need to go home now.”
“Okay, I’ll pack my things now.”
