THAT day was the busiest one that I had ever spent in my life. I tried to make notes that night, but even then I couldn’t remember everything that had happened. THATAt the new personnel reception centre to which Augie took me, I am sure that I got ‘the works’. Examinations took all morning and most of the after- noon. The physical was exhaustive; they spent half an hour examining my bad leg under a fluoroscope and wrote up pages about it. The psychological and aptitude tests were just as thorough although in a way they were fun.
