Chapter 5-2

1004 Words

On Monday following the conclusion of the course I went actively to work. My cash pay was fifty dollars a month for savings and incidentals; my room, board and clothing were all furnished. I wrote to Judge Feinberg and reported on my progress to date. There was no one else I could think of to whom to write and I received no mail whatever except base bulletins and official communications. I did not see Dr. Havensson at all and glimpsed Captain Malone only once when he was eating with a group of men in flight uniforms in the mess hall. My work consisted of shorthand reporting of various conferences and meetings regarding separate phases of the whole project. I found myself listening to a good deal of secret information which apparently was discussed in my presence without any reservations.
