THE MOON'S FALL

Chapter Five

" Oh! the slut finally decided to come back home. Oh my God you reek of alcohol, I think I'm gonna puke" Sarella spat at me. Dad sent both of us a warning look.

" I need you to explain what happened at the wedding. We are listening" Dad asked.

I sat on the chair opposite him at the table. " A waiter poured wine on my dress so I had to visit the lady's room to clean it up. I was cleaning the stain when I heard the door open. I thought it was just another female so I didn't bother much.

Jeffrey snuck up behind me, then announced his presence. I warned him to stay away but he didn't listen. As he came closer I tried to send a hit to his face but he caught my hand and immediately someone opened the door he kissed me" I explained.

"your obviously lying to our faces. What would Jeremy see in your ugly unattractive ass. I am sure you threw yourself at him" she spat. Dad gave her a warning glare.

" You sit here constantly finding who to blame for your fiance's infidelity. Keep making excuses for him maybe that's why he keeps cheating on you because he knows you'll keep being a dumbass and forgive him" I stated.

She stood up and strode towards me. she raised her hand to hit me but it never came down.

" I let it slide at the wedding but if you f*****g try this again, I'll forget that you're carrying that bastard's child and give you a brain resetting beating ", I said with a dangerously calm expression.

" You both should calm down and sit. Adriana has a point. she was in the ladies room. why did Jeffrey go there too? something just doesn't add up" Jeremy asked.

" What if she called him there. we all know she's very good at sending unnecessary distress signals. why should I even listen to you when we all know you would take her side", she stated like she was very sure that's how it happened.

"Dad, Luis with all due respect I beg to take my leave because there is no need having this conversation. she obviously doesn't want to believe me or at least listen" I said to them before heading towards the door then I turned back to face her with my hand now on the door knob.

" It hurts to know what you actually think of me. Here I was trying to protect you from all the s**t he pulled on me but it's all good. Just know that I'm done. Done with you, done trying to protect and look out for you. I am very big on trust and respect and today you broke two of my very sacred principles. For this reason I hereby sever all ties with you. Any bonds keeping us together has been broken, I no longer have any business with you..Go and be with your man but when next he treats you like s**t just know I won't be there to help ever" I said with a heavy heart.

As I pushed open the door. I felt the earth under my feet shake. I walked out the door and felt another shake. it was becoming worse. I went up to my room ignoring the weird feeling around me.

The effect of the alcohol hit so I went straight to sleep.

I heard banging on my door, before I could respond Jeremy pushed it open " Get dressed we are leaving, the border fell and they are in" he shouted. Fear was evident on his features.

I jumped out of bed and searched for clothes around. I wore my sweat pants and shirt then we ran out together.

The house was empty as we ran down stairs. " Where is everyone" I shouted behind him. He kept running without any answers.

I wasn't sure what his silence meant and I didn't want to think the worse. It just can't be. We ran into the tunnels I had built with my brother for this day.

We both knew that there was no way we could win this war. They are far bigger than us.

We ran out of the tunnels into the forest. I heard fast feet approaching so we ran faster and harder.

Our run came to an abrupt stop when we saw them in front of us. They looked human just with bigger physique. The blood on their faces and the screams that ripple through the forest was enough evidence that they weren't human.

I looked at Jeremy as they came nearer. " If we must die, we die fighting. Do you still have the blade I gave you?" I asked him. He nodded in affirmation and brought it out. I pulled mine from the side of my boots. I did a mental calculation of how to take them out. They were four of them standing in front of us"If I was going to die today, I must take some of them with me" I thought to myself.

On my count, we lunged at them. They were incredibly strong. I stuck my blade in one's throat driving my knife down his jugular. Then in swift motion I went for his heart. His body fell lifeless.

I took out the other one then helped Jeremy. We stood to catch our breath before I knew what was happening someone snuck up behind Jeremy and had him in a choke hold with a knife dangerously close to his neck.

As I stepped closer, I recognised the person behind him. " Jeffrey? your one of them aren't you?". I said not really surprised.

"Your going to come with us peacefully or I'll slit his throat and still take you", he said with a serious tone. I really wanted to snap his neck but I couldn't risk Jeremy's life and wellbeing.

" I'll go with you " I said defeated. I let one of his dogs cuff me. We followed behind him as he lead us out of the forest.

Once I saw the end of the forest I felt pain at the back of my head. " Welcome to our world princess", was the last thing I heard before falling unconscious.
