Damien's POV
The taste of her blood still lingers on my tongue. I stared at the chalice in front of me with disgust. The smell of the blood irritates me. I want her. Her blood tastes different from anything I've ever had.
It's been a month since I've had any blood. I know it's not wise to stay off blood for so long, but I can't drink anything else right now.
I left the palace for a meeting with the werewolf king the night after I almost drained the little human of her blood.
I needed to make plans for security as there have been threats at our borders. I got a letter stating that there have been attacks on the walls guarding the werewolf kingdom as well.
Carlos and I arranged meetings with border security to discuss plans going forward.
I stayed at Carlos's house for a month. When I was sure everything had been put in order, I traveled back.
On the night of my arrival, I sent for my little human. Hilda said she had assigned her to kitchen duty as an assistant.
I heard a knock on my door, and immediately I knew she was the one behind it, so I signaled for her to come in. The moment she walked into the room, I became livid. Anger was the only thing I felt alongside the urge to spill blood.
I know her scent, it has been imprinted in my head and right now someone else's scent is lingering around her.
" Where were you? " I asked with anger evident in my features. " I was at dinner" she answered with no emotion obviously lying through her teeth.
" Lying to me would be the most unreasonable thing you'll do. There's a scent lingering on you. "I'll ask you one more time, who the f**k were you with? " I asked and hit my hands on the table. My wolf was restless. He wanted to lash out but everything in due time.
" I was with the girls having dinner " she answered once more. " Leave "I ordered. She walked out of the room and headed back to the dorm. As she leaves, my thoughts are all over the place. 'The male is definitely human. He has to be human because she hates all the other creatures ' I thought to myself.
Immediately, I mind-linked Cyprian. He was in charge of the male slave unit. " Round up the last batch of human slaves we acquired during the last raid " I instructed. "They'll be there in ten minutes " he responded. I cut off the mind link.
I entered the arena and it reeked of humans.
My senses immediately heighten trying to pick out a particular scent. The humans were all standing in the center of the arena, but the one I was looking for wasn't there.
I left Cyprian a message to dismiss them after giving a lecture on whatever he chose. Infuriated, I walked out of the room.
As I head back to my office, the smell hits me. I turn to my left and standing before me is a human boy. He stood by a painting with a female in front of him. I listened to them speak and finally picked out his name from the weird conversation they were having, Jeremy.
An evil smile appears on my face as I know my search is finally over. She thinks she can play games with me. I've always been the master with numerous cards in my hand. She thinks she's smart, but soon she'll realize that anybody could be a card in my hand to use as I please.
I walked back to my study and picked up the report file Jeffrey had sent to me during his mission.
The file contained details of all the family members of my little human and her affiliates.
Flipping through the pages, I came across the picture of the unfortunate male.
Immediately, I sent a message to Cyprian alongside the picture of the human and instructed his arrest. My little human seems to have forgotten who her owner is. It's high time I set the records straight and drill the facts interesting her head. I'm a creature known for being ruthless. She would now understand why people don't come near what's mine.
After a few minutes, I got feedback that the lad had been arrested. LET THE GAMES BEGIN.
Three days later,
I sat in my office with a glass of wine in my hand. That's all I've been having since I got back. Suddenly, I could hear loud angry footsteps approaching. A smirk appeared on my face because I knew exactly who was about to storm into my office. " Where is he ? " The little human asked angrily. I looked up at her so that she could see the smirk growing on my face. Her anger was very entertaining. I could feel something igniting within me.
" He is somewhere close yet very far from you. Far enough to never leave his scent on anything I own ever again " I said calmly while adjusting in my chair.
" Firstly, you do not own me. I'm not some piece of property you can claim ownership of. I'm a person, a whole f*****g human being and that boy you locked up is my brother. He did nothing wrong, so there was no need to lock him up or do you have some sort of reason that no one is aware of? " She asked with evident anger.
" Oh little human, you are the one unaware of a lot of things. You and that lad have no idea what is coming. I know that he is not your brother, so don't try lying about that. There is no blood relationship between you both. I smelt him and tasted his blood. The texture and taste are clearly different. I wanted to snap his neck and watch him bleed out after I tasted the blood, but then I thought to myself, 'what is the fun in that?'. No one touches what's mine. The next time you see your so-called brother, he will be without his two arms or maybe a head too," I said with a smug look. I enjoyed seeing her in this state even more than I'm willing to express. There are parts of me that are getting excited that she can't see, at least not yet.
She looked like she was about to snap. " It is pretty clear that you had a sad and lonely childhood. That's why you don't know that there are people considered family even though you don't share blood ties. I'm sure people couldn't reckon with your evil. That's why they avoided you, but that's none of my business. All I want to know is where the f**k did you keep him, you vile creature? " She screamed at me. I maintained my calm, but her offenses were piling up, and I was definitely going to keep them in mind. She was walking on thin ice and as much as I wanted to break the ice and punish her. I knew it would spoil the fun I had in store.
I signaled one of my guards to knock her out from behind. Once she was out, I instructed the guard, " take her to the dungeon where the other human was kept. Let's give her the reunion she's so eager for ". He picked her up and took her out of my office.
I spent the rest of the day in my office, sorting out the issues at the border.
The next day,
I went out for my morning run. Running brings some level of peace. The serene bushes serve as a table for me to put out all my thoughts. I run to think and hunt sometimes.
My thoughts are interrupted by the buzzing of my phone.
i pulled out the phone from my pocket and picked the call. " what is it?" I asked annoyed. "the girl is awake"
was all he said before I cut the call.
My day just got a lot better.
