THE MOON'S FALL

Chapter fourteen

Adriana's POV

The day went smoothly. Ms Hilda had come to inform me about the absence of the king. The dream I had keeps hunting me. I keep trying to decode the message in the dream and what it symbolises but nothing adds up. I am happy that I won't have to see him at least for the time being. The man hates my guts and I hate his ego and controlling ass.

In the meantime, I've been assigned kitchen duty since I am not allowed to serve anyone else. I honestly prefer my new temporary job at least I'm not mentally drained by it. The chef is a nice fellow and compared to the other males I've encountered in this house, he seems the most cordial and reasonable. My work here is very simple. I wash the dishes and arrange the utensils after the preparation and service of every meal.

I have lots of free time so I spend it with Mira. Since the disappearance of the king, I've been meeting with my brother and Jeremy about three times every week. Mom wrote to us so we are sure she's safe. Luis has started surveying the grounds. He is looking for any loop hole in the structure. Jeremy is keeping tabs on the guards. He is trying to understand their work schedule and when switches are made. The family time we have after dinner has brought back some sort of normalcy to my life.

One thing humans and these creatures have in common is the fact that the kitchen is the home of gossip. These girls are acting like horny bitches. They are always talking about the soldiers and how nice their body looks. The kitchen is like the centre of the whole house. Every single thing is discussed within these four walls.

One time I even heard small talk about Sarella and that dickhead she's f*****g. The girls claim, he doesn't treat her well and to be honest I am not surprised. He never treated her well but unfortunately my sister has always been blind and ignorant.

I honestly do not care how he treats her because as far as she's concerned the guy is a saint even when the demon is written all over his face. After the fight we had at home, I came to the resolution that I'll never get involved in her business especially when it concerns him.

We've avoided each other like a plague. I am happy she's avoiding me too because the things I have to say to her are far from nice.

A month has passed and there is still no news on the king's whereabout or return. I honestly wish he was stabbed in the face and torso then left to bleed out. There has been peace since he left. Ms Hilda has been doing a fine job in keeping me occupied.

I am bored. The kitchen is very quiet because the girls have gone to serve their respective masters. waiting for them to return, I decide to start washing the kitchen utensils that were used.

" Chef, Prepare a plate of steak immediately. Adriana, drop the sponge and go change into something else" Ms Hilda says as she walks through the kitchen door. "Why do I need a change of clothes? Am I being posted to ground duty? " I ask with confusion evident in my tone.

" He's back and he asked for his meal " She states. I don't need to ask 'who is back ' . I drop all the things I was doing and walk back to my room. I get changed then head back to the kitchen. By the time I get back, the food was already served on the tray. Ms Hilda had already left the kitchen so I picked up the tray and headed to his room.

As I approach the door to his room, I pull up my defences. If he thinks that he can walk all over me then he's in for a big surprise.

I knocked on the door and once I got the signal, I stepped in. The room is dark as usual. I scan through the room carefully searching for the creature. My eyes soon fall on his frame. He was sitting on the sofa staring at me.

I place the tray of food on the table then take a step back. I watch his every move as he takes small steps towards the table.

" Last time I checked, you are not dumb " He states in the middle of his meal. I look up at confused and irritated. The look on his face says it all. He was intentionally trying to irritate me and unfortunately he succeeded.

" The last time I also checked, I was made to believe that you were of sound mind. Unfortunately it seems like you hit your head during your trip and ended up with an amnesia"

I snapped before I could think about my actions.

" You humans are just too easy " he mocks as he calmly cuts the steak on his plate. My hands were balled up in a fist. I have a lot to say and the words are just laying on the tip of my tongue.

" Its evident from your body language especially how tight your fists look that you have a lot to say. If you're worried about being killed, don't worry. I'm not pulling that card yet. You've already earned yourself a punishment tonight so why not a few more or are you scared my little weak human? " he asks obviously taunting me.

" It seems like the spy you sent didn't do his assignment well because there's a little detail he left out. I'm not scared of your kind neither am I of death. You creatures are just some mistake of creation " I say calmly.

" You claim not to be scared of death but yet you were scared out of your mind by the thought of being f****d, pathetic " he spat at me.

The man is getting on my nerves. I want to grab him by the neck and suffocate him before using his fork to stab him by the balls. I'm standing on my last thread of control. Thankfully he is done with his meal. I pick up the tray and walk towards the door. I stop in my tracks when I hear footsteps approaching.

" My meal is not complete. Where's my dessert? " he asks standing awfully close to me. " You will never drink from me again. My job description has nothing to do with being a meal for you" I snapped.

" Your job description contains a lot more than you know. I'll give you this piece of advice for free, never say never " he says with a smirk.

I did not wait for any approval. I opened the door and left. Fortunately, he did not try to stop me. I need to speak with the boys about this development. Things are going to be tougher now that he is back.

After dropping the plates in the kitchen. I walk back to my room and take a nap.
