Chapter Four Two Voices, One Curse ~~ARIEL~~ “Dang it!!” How could I be so loose to allow some strange guy to have s*x with me? “What a daft thing!!” I thought in my head. Why couldn't I just read his mind and avoid being taken advantage of? It was then I remembered the details. It was hard getting to his head. Even now, thinking back… I still couldn’t read his thoughts. Why? What blocked me? I had rushed out of his room in disgust and shame. Thank Goodness I was able to see a cab heading towards home. I snuck through the backdoor into my room. I laid my back on the couch and gave out a loud sigh. “What the f**k happened?” I blurted out. My whole body smells like him and I am finding it difficult to get him out of my thoughts. That tuberose fragrance he had on his shirt, it's sticky as f**k! “Ariel!!” I heard Ava call out from where she sat. I snapped out of my thoughts almost immediately. I didn't even know she had entered the room and was staring at me. “Hmmm?” “What's wrong with you?” She spoke in Layla's voice…a showoff of her magic. She was fond of doing that and this time, it pissed me off but I dare not say a word against it. “Ava…not now..are you trying to scare me or what?” I said. “No, come on. I'm only trying to cheer you up. What happened to you, sister?” I paused. It would only be wise if I am careful to tell her what happened. My mind-reading ability still remains a secret known to me only. “I think I'm in trouble, Ava. I made a terrible mistake,” I started. “Uhm…mistake? What are you talking about? If this is about you sneaking out last night. Don't worry, it's fine…” “.... I don't think anyone in the house knew about it. Plus, you got in earlier than I anticipated…I was going to cover up for you,” she added. “You knew?” I said with a surprised look. “Of course. I have some few other tricks aside my magic, girl,” she chuckled. “You still got to help me, Ava….I needed to cool off at some bar downtown, that was why I went out but that's by the way….” “...I got lost in the moment, Ava,” I paused and stared at the door to see if anyone was going to walk in. “Hey…I'm all ears..don't worry about anyone.” “Did something happen at the bar?” She asked with an inquisitive look, locked into the gist I was spilling out to her. “I…I was drunk, I think..I really can't even say but there was this handsome guy at the bar…” “Handsome, hmmm…that's quite promising..” Ava interrupted me, eager to hear the next words that would escape my lips. “I got lost in his eyes and we had s*x,” I finally burst the bubble. Ava smirked….”Okay, you slept with him, so what?” “Is that what you are so disturbed about? You had a one night stand with some guy at the bar and you suddenly feel shamed about it?” She laughed out loud…….”Oh please” “Ava, I'm serious about this. What if……” “What if what?” She interrupted. “Babes, you had fun. You completely deserve it…so take your mind off it. You aren't a child, Ariel or do you want to keep putting yourself in that pity state and allow my sisters ride on you?!” She said and I shook my head in response. “Good..so just forget it. Nothing would happen. I'm so sure you won't even set your eyes on that guy again. He is probably one of those rich fuckboys who roam around clubs and bars in the city,” she said in an assuring tone. I sighed. “Are you sure about this?” “Take your mind off it…things happen,” she said, patting me on the shoulders. ~~CHRISTIAN~~ “Did we scare her or what was that about?” I spoke to my reflection in the mirror right in the bathroom. “Why would I care? You didn't even introduce her to me…guess I'm no longer important, uhn?” Brody replied. “You think you can carry on without me. You can't, Christian. Get that into your thick skull. I am your only friend and partner. Everyone else eventually leaves!!!” Brody was my second personality, the curse I live and dine with, the actual reason I decided to go to the bar that night. “I'm not giving you that chance anymore,” I responded. “You basically ruin things every single time..why do we have to kill the front desk staff of the company last night?” “She didn't even do anything..” I complained. “Oh, come on! Stop behaving like a child. You and I both know that lady doesn't respect you. Moreover, I don't like her so I got rid of her…Deal with it!” I bang my head on my forehead as I stared intensely into the mirror. “Just get out of me already,” I groaned. “Hahahaha…we are stuck with each other, brother..” I could feel this immense energy growing inside of me and I tightened my fists as my temper rose. “Let me be!!” I said in a loud tone. I was about to smash the wall with my hand when my phone suddenly rang up. “See?” “This is another obstacle we need to get rid of,” Brody said. “Are you out of your senses?” I said as I stared at the phone call. It was my mother. “What does she want?” Brody said. “None of your business…” I responded as I picked up the phone. He gave a wicked laugh and vanished all of a sudden. “Hello, Mom….” I said in a low tone as I tried to calm myself. Apparently, she answered in a tone even lower than mine. “Hello..” For the first time in my life, I heard my mother speak in a shaky tone. It was as if she was in a coma or perhaps struggling to breathe. “Mother???” “What's the problem?” There was no response still.. “Mother, speak up…What's the issue, please?” “You need to come home right away,” she finally spoke up. “Your father is….” she mumbled and ended the call.
