Lyla’s pov
I quickly crawled out of darkness to meet the gaze of who my helper was. “Leave now! Once you are caught, then I don't know anything about it. I know you didn't kill the Alpha, and I am helping you because I trust you.” The female voice said in a hush whisper.
I looked at her, not sure if this was a trick. Hot tears streamed down my cheek. “Please, I didn't kill the Alpha. Did Alpha Thorn send you?” I asked again.
My eye locked on her, I have been through alot of emotional drama to be played like this.
The girl looked at me. “No, no one did. I saw it all happen. I was there that night.” The girl said again, and my eyes opened with awe. “ Why?” I said slowly, trying not to raise my voice. “Why didn't you tell me? You could have saved me a lot of trouble if you had said something.”
“You know I didn't do it?” I asked again with anger visibly seen in it. “I suffered for nothing when you could have told Thorn what you saw.”
“ No one would believe me just the way they didn't believe you. Do you know why?” She asked and I slowly looked at her face. I know why so I didn't even bother asking her why.
The girl heard footsteps approaching, and she immediately hid. I crawled back into the darkest part of the dungeon too. “Why are you making a noise? Don't make me come back here!” The guard said in anger, and I winced, trying to pretend.
Immediately he was back to his post. The girl came out again. “I don't think you should be asking me all these questions. If you want to live, then you need to do as I say. You can ask me these questions next time we meet, but I am going to advise you to go far away from here.” She said quickly, opening the gate.
‘ No wait! How do I get out of here?” I shouted,I rushed towards her as she tried to have it opened, but then I saw Thorn right behind her and I froze. The girl peed her body as she heard a soft growl right behind her. “What are you doing?” Thorn's voice was laced with anger. “Are you trying to free my prisoner?" He shouted, his voice echoing through the dungeon walls.
What she failed to know was that the dungeon had another entrance and not the main one. I looked at her face and I could see the horror in them.
The guard ran inside immediately; he heard Thorn's growl. “Where were you when she entered?” Thorn looked at the trembling guard. “I went for a leak; I didn't know she was...”
Thorn clawed out his throat before he could finish his words. The girl fell to her feet. “Forgive me, Alpha Thorn. She didn't do it.” The girl pleaded innocently.
“And who did? You decided to have her released without anyone knowing, and you think I am going to believe you?” Thorn shouted at her. All this while I stayed in the corner of my cell too shocked to say a word or help the poor girl.
I remembered the cane that fell on my back, and the thought that the girl was going to receive the same made me weep for her. Thorn opened the cage and immediately threw her inside. “I am going to enjoy watching both of you die.” He said waking away
My face went pale, the only chance of me escaping death slowly fading away before my very eyes. I looked at the girl, and I saw she was scared. “You are going to be alright; you are going to be fine. I will make sure of that.” I said, looking at her face.
I was lost; I don't know what to do anymore. My guess was right; Georgina had been the cause of all of this, and she had managed to kill the Alpha.“ How do I convince Thorn that I didn't when he was bent on having my head on a spike?
As I laid on the cold floor, I shut my eyes thinking about what tomorrow would bring…
[Early the next day]
The loud clang of the gates woke me up. “Get up! Today is your lucky day.” The gateman, who was having a pot belly, said with a grin. “Are we being released?” The young girl asked, and I could see the anticipation in her voice.
“ Released? No, you are going to be sentenced!” He said with a smile around his face that I began to wonder why he was happy that we would be killed. I felt my legs go numb and the thought of having my head chopped off scared me. I looked at the girl beside me and how she wailed uncontrollably. A part of me felt pity, I was a bad luck and it was obvious my luck was robbing of her.
We were chained together and dragged through the hallway into the council chambers, where lots of elders were eagerly seated waiting for us. People threw stones and all sorts of stuff at us. “ Murderers! Killers! Go rot in hell!”
I looked at every direction and all I saw was anger and the hatred of the pack. I knew this was going to be harder than I thought.
I looked up and saw Thorn seated on the throne with Georgina beside him. She was finally having what she had always wanted. We were pushed to the front with different gazes of pity and anger shown on the faces of the elders.
“Silence!” Thorn raised up his hand slightly, and the murmuring voice of the elders died down. “Today we are going to talk about my coming coronation and have this murder killed,” he said, looking at us.
