I was the happiest wolf in the hospital when I heard they were both cleared. Relief washed over me, warm and soothing, and for a moment, I let myself imagine that nothing like that would ever happen again. Still, a part of me burned with curiosity, a stubborn need to see the kind of monster who could do such a thing.
