Chapter 5

Sophie returned to Dion's office, finding him deep in thought as he reviewed some documents on his desk. She cleared her throat to get his attention, and he looked up with a raised eyebrow. "Dion, I've offered Ava a place to stay in our guesthouse," Sophie said, getting straight to the point. Dion regarded her with a thoughtful expression. "Good. It's practical for her to be close by, especially given the demanding nature of her new role." Sophie nodded. "Exactly. Plus, it shows we're invested in her success here." Dion leaned back in his chair, his gaze distant for a moment before refocusing on Sophie. "Just make sure she doesn't find out... why we wanted her to stay with us." Sophie raised an eyebrow, understanding his implication. "Of course. It's better if she doesn't know the full extent of our... motivations." They both understood the unspoken complexities of their decision. Ava was a capable assistant, and having her close was practical for work, but there were personal reasons behind the offer too—reasons they weren't ready to disclose. "We'll keep it professional," Sophie assured him. "She won't suspect a thing." Dion nodded, satisfied. "Good. Let's keep it that way." As they continued their discussion about upcoming projects, both knew that Ava's presence in their guesthouse would blur the lines between professional and personal, but for now, they agreed it was the best course of action for everyone involved. After several days of weighing her options, Ava finally decided to accept Sophie’s offer to move into the guesthouse. The Lancaster siblings had been persuasive, emphasizing how her close proximity would streamline her demanding role and allow her to be more effective. The practical benefits, combined with the reassurance from Sophie and Dion, made the decision easier. On the day of the move, Sophie personally drove Ava to the Lancaster estate. The sprawling property was breathtaking, with manicured gardens and a large, elegant mansion. The guesthouse, nestled discreetly at the edge of the estate, was charming and more luxurious than anything Ava had ever lived in. "This will be your space," Sophie said, opening the door and showing Ava around. "You’ll have privacy, but it’s close enough that you can be on call if needed." Ava looked around, taking in the beautifully furnished living room, the cozy kitchen, and the serene bedroom. "This is incredible, Sophie. I don’t know how to thank you." Sophie smiled warmly. "Just keep doing what you’re doing at work. We appreciate your dedication, and we want to support you." Later that evening, as Ava settled into her new home, she reflected on the whirlwind of the past few days. Despite her initial reservations, she felt a sense of relief and gratitude. The guesthouse offered her a fresh start, and the proximity to work meant she could excel in her role. The next morning, Ava was up early, ready to tackle the day's tasks with renewed energy. She walked over to the main house, where Dion and Sophie were already in the office, deep in discussion. "Good morning," Ava greeted them, entering the room. "Morning, Ava," Dion replied, looking up from his papers. "Glad to see you’re settled in." Sophie added, "We have a busy day ahead. There’s a meeting with the marketing team at ten, and I need you to prepare the materials for that. Also, Dion needs you to coordinate with the finance department for the quarterly report." "Got it," Ava said, jotting down notes. As she set to work, Ava couldn’t shake the feeling that there was more to her relocation than just convenience. But for now, she focused on proving herself, determined to succeed in her new role and make the most of the opportunity. In the days that followed, Ava's efficiency and attention to detail impressed both Dion and Sophie. She found herself adapting quickly to the demands of the job, managing their schedules seamlessly and anticipating their needs. One evening, as Ava was finishing up some work in the main house, Dion approached her. "Ava, you've been doing an excellent job. Sophie and I are both very pleased." "Thank you, Dion," Ava replied, feeling a sense of pride. He paused for a moment, then added, "Remember, if there's anything you need, don't hesitate to let us know. We want you to succeed here." Ava nodded, appreciating the support. As she walked back to the guesthouse that night, she felt a growing sense of belonging. Despite the challenges, she was determined to make this new chapter in her life a successful one, even as questions lingered about the true motivations of her benefactors.
