Slash = In fanfiction, the pairing of the fanfic in question is usually written as name/name, the s***h between the names is now synonymous with a specific type of fanfiction, the male/male (and as fem-s***h, female/female) fanfiction. Using the word s***h in this way is not appreciated by everyone, and some people feel that there should be a better way to refer to these types of fanfiction, even though it’s an easy shorthand to talk about non-straight fanfiction. Related to this is the term ‘slashable’, which is a way to refer to official anime or manga which makes it very easy to write fanfiction of certain characters because they’re already really close, or because they act in ways that could be interpreted as more than just friendship.
