Eva
Aliya comes through the doorway and I peek past her into the hall. "Is she gone?"
She gives a nod and drops beside me on the floor. "She asked me to ring her later."
"But you won't." I lift my brows at her.
She grins. "Absolutely not."
I laugh and move my head from side to side.
"Why are you on the floor instead of the bed?" She asks and I give her a look.
"The bed where you just had that girl doing things? No thank you."
"We barely did much. Want to hear about it?" She wiggles her brows and I scrunch up my face.
"What? No. Go away, Aliya."
She laughs and goes to the bed, lying back with a heavy sigh. "I think she wrecked me for anyone else Evie. Janet was decent but I kept picturing that other girl the whole time her tongue was on me."
"You need to stop thinking about her. You don't even know her name." I tell her and she turns her head my way.
"I know. And it drives me crazy that I can't get her out of my head."
I laugh. "You'll get over it."
"I will. Once I've hooked up with enough other girls." She winks and I roll my eyes.
"What's up with you?" She sits up and looks at me closely.
"What do you mean?" I lift my brows.
"I don't know. Something feels different. Is there something you want to tell me?"
"No." The answer comes too fast and a slow smile spreads across her face as she leans in.
"Have I ever mentioned how terrible you are at lying to me?"
"First time hearing it." I shrug.
"You're hiding something. Spill." She presses and I groan, covering my face with my palms.
"I don't want to discuss it Aliya."
"Why?" She asks and I peek at her between my fingers.
"Because I wish it didn't happen."
"Fine." She huffs. "I'll drop it because I'm in a decent mood. So what are you doing tonight? Does daddy's girl have a plan to escape again?"
"Stop calling me that." I snap and she laughs.
"But it's true."
"Aliya." I say her name like a warning and glare at her. She rolls her eyes then raises her hands.
"Fine. What is my gorgeous babe doing tonight?"
I give her a small smile. "Much better."
"Bitch." She says with a grin.
"Pussy." I fire back with a smirk.
"I enjoy eating them." She winks and I roll my eyes.
"Don't go there."
"You started it." She says as she reaches across the bed for her phone.
"To answer your question. I need to get out tonight. I need to get laid Aliya." Her grin grows wider and she's next to me in a flash, grabbing my arm.
"What should I do Eva? I'm such a terrible influence on you. Your dad will destroy me if he discovers this." She makes a fake terrified face.
"He won't find out." I assure her and she hums, pressing her face into my neck.
"You might be bad at lying to me but you're excellent at lying to your father."
"Get off." I wrap my hand around her arm and shove her away. She lands on the bed because she allows it.
"Nine tonight. I'll come to your place." She announces and I smile at her.
"You're amazing. Has anyone ever told you that?"
She laughs and looks back at her phone. "You're not the first girl to mention that." And there she goes making it inappropriate.
I move toward the door and wrap my fingers around the knob, turning it little by little. Mom's voice stops me.
"Where are you sneaking off to young lady?"
I gasp and whirl around with wide eyes, pressing my back against the door. "Hey Mom. I didn't notice you there." I let out a nervous laugh and she furrows her brows as she walks closer holding a glass.
"Where are you headed Eva?"
I open my mouth but she speaks first. "The truth please."
I sigh and step away from the door. "A night out with Aliya."
I watch her from under my lashes when she stays quiet. She's looking at me with a soft smile.
"It's tiring isn't it?" She says and I raise my brows. "Having to sneak out just to have fun with your friend?"
Mom has always tried to ease Dad's protectiveness but it never changed much. So hearing her say this catches me off guard.
"It is." I answer and she nods.
"I know baby. I'm sorry you don't have the freedom you deserve. But you need to understand your father. His heart is in the right place and he's afraid."
"I know Mom." I smile and walk toward her, placing my hands over hers. "I know why Dad does all this. But he also needs to realize I'm nineteen and I can protect myself."
"I tell him that all the time." She says and lifts her free hand to my cheek. "You're a grown woman Eva. You should have this freedom." She stops, drops her hand and sighs. "But your father is stubborn. Tonight though."
My brows shoot up with hope and she nods. "Go have fun. I'll make excuses for you."
"You mean this? This isn't some trick to get me grounded?" I raise my brows and she chuckles, holding my head and kissing my forehead.
She pulls back. "You should know me better than that."
"Thank you." I beam and throw myself into her arms, nearly knocking the glass from her grasp.
"Sorry." I say pulling away. "I got carried away."
"Just go." She chuckles and I nod, planting a kiss on her cheek before heading for the door.
"Eva." Mom calls when I pull the door open and I turn back. "Be safe." I answer with a smile before walking out and shutting the door behind me.

EMERSON
"Isn't that the Carson girl?" Ayden pokes me with his elbow and I look toward where he's pointing. Eva Carson walks in with her usual friend beside her. She's in jeans and a lace top with a dark jacket over it. Her blonde hair is twisted into a bun.
Eva Carson. A girl I can't stand. Matt Carson's daughter. My dad's business competition. My neighbor.
"She looks good." Jaxon grins next to me and I glance at him before looking back at her. I won't pretend Eva Carson isn't attractive. But she's also someone I'd never touch. That thought takes me back to last night. That expression on her face when she caught me with Val. She'd probably never watched a guy f**k a girl right in front of her before. So what is she doing here at a party full of chaos when she should be home where her daddy can watch over her?
I've known Eva Carson for years and one thing I've always seen is that she's her father's little princess. And I despise that about her.
"Her friend is hot." Ayden says and my eyes go to the curvy girl with dark blue hair next to her. I consider walking over there just to get under Carson's skin. But that thought dies when I notice blue eyeing a girl nearby.
"Emerson." The girl between my legs calls me and I look down at her with raised brows. "You're ignoring me." She pouts and I roll my eyes.
"Hey man. Focus on your girl." Ayden winks and I scowl at him before pushing the girl off me.
"Where are you going?" She complains.
"To the bathroom." That's all I offer before heading down the hall.
I finish up and pull the door open. My mouth curls into a smirk at the scene in front of me and I lean back against the wall, folding my arms.
"Well this is something." Carson raises her head from the guy's shoulder and meets my gaze with wide eyes.
Wide, angry eyes.
"You know him?" The guy asks as he steps back from her, letting her move off the wall.
"Yes Carson. Do you know me?" I lift my brows at her but she doesn't answer. She just stands there. Boiling with rage. And I'm being serious. She's actually boiling.
"I'm going to head out." The guy says before walking down the hall. Eva turns to face me when he's out of sight and snaps, "What the hell is your problem?"
I put on an innocent look. "My problem?"
"Why did you do that?" She asks, stepping closer and I push off the wall to move toward her. "So you can spy on me having s*x but I can't spy on you about to have s*x? That doesn't seem fair Carson."
"f**k you." She hisses before going the other way and I laugh.
"Does your father know you're out here about to get laid by some random guy?"
She spins to face me with her fists clenched and her eyes blazing. Anger. Hatred. Disgust. All the negative feelings she always throws my way.
There she is. The Carson I recognize.
The one who loathes me as much as I loathe her.
