Regret

Eleanor I didn’t stop walking even if my knees felt weak. I would have gone straight to my room if both I and Ava’s keys weren’t in the lockeroom. Tears blurred my vision, but I did all I could to hold them in. The last thing I needed was to shed another tear for the male specie. How could I have let myself go? I ought to have learned my lesson after Zach. But Ezra isn’t Zach. A trecherous voice in my head said. I turned in a corner, not paying attention and nearly bumped into a tall slim figure. “M_Mrs Warwick.” I stammered, my voice hoarse. The woman who had on a perfectly tailored suit, with every strand if hair in place, had stood out to me when I first laid eyes on her. “And where are you going?” She asked, narrowing her gaze at me, before letting her gaze run up and down my body. Goosebumps covered my skin under her scrutiny, and for some reason, I felt uncomfortable. “I had an accident earlier in the arena, and I popped a joint. I’m just going to collect my keys from my locker.” I explained, ommitting the part where instead of going to the academy’s hospital, I had been attended to, in Ezra’s personal room. It wasn’t against the rules visiting a boy’s room in the academy, but the look she was giving me made a little cautious. I wasn’t sure it was advicable to get on her badside. “I see.” she asked, staring down her nose at me. “I must remind you, Grayerh, that here at Moonlight we have priorities..” the last word was said with heavy emphasis. “...and we prefer that to come before anything else.” I forced my expression to stay blank, refusing to show my confusion at her words. “I understand, Mrs Warwick.” I nodded my head, my heart thudding slightly. Just then, her lips drew into a sweet smile, a contrast from what it was before. “I will be on my way then. And try not to end up in the hospital next time.” She didn’t wait for a reply and just walked past me, leaving a trail of citrus in her wake. It wasn’t until I was pulling out my key from the locker room, I realized she had called me by my last name. How had she known? Did the academy know every student by their names? Even the ones who had just come a few days prior? I was so lost in my thoughts I didn’t hear the doors open, and someone walk in. “You.” I whirled around, key in hand, to see Jasmine standing in the doorway. A sigh escaped my lips as my forgotten anger worked it’s way up to the surface. If Ezra hadn’t taken me out of the arena, I would have been on my way home for either suspension or expulsion. “I see you are on your feet.” she smirked, looking pointedly at my hip. “So the drama was just so you could be lifted by prince charming like a damsel in distress.” I wasn’t sure which was funnier. Her referring to exra as prince charming, or me as a damsel in distress. “You cheated.” I stated flatly, ignoring her words. “You used your lycan-wolf.” I had seen it, just before she had slammed that ball at me. It irked me that no one else noticed it. If they did, she wouldn’t be standing in the locker room with me. Speaking off. Why was she even in the locker room? Training wasn’t over. “And why would you think I did? You couldn’t handle a ball thrown at you and now you have it in your empty skull that I used my abilities.” she didn’t look remorseful as she walked closer. “Besides, you have no proof at all.” I nodded. “Right. I don’t.” I admitted, keeping my emotions in check, even if I felt like giving her a few tears to her pretty face. “But I would advice you not to do that next time.” That seemed to tick her off, and the next I knew, I was being slammed on my shoulders, causing me to stagger a little. My wolf didn’t like that. Neither did I. “Are you warning me? Weakling? You are just a wolf, remember that. And I am a hybrid!” her face was too close to mine, and control or not, it was pissing me off. Not to mention, she smelled exactly like her name. Jasmine. “Only an actual weakling would try all they can to remind people of their abilities,” I taunted, wrapping my hands into fists. The keycard bit into the skin of my palm painfully, but I didn’t care. Jasmine’s eyes blazed, flashing red. “Listen spineless mutt! You better mind the words you say to me, or I will make you life a living hell in this academy.” Unable to bear her closeness anymore, I simply walked away from between her and my locker, intent on not giving in to my anger and walking to my room. But of course, people like Jasmine didn’t take silence well. “You are not allowed to walk out on me until I say so!” she pulled me by the arm. I turned quickly, catching her by the wrist. A move that made her eyes widen in surprise. “Touch me again and we will see who is the weak mutt between the both of us!” I hissed, letting go of her arm. “You seem to have a problem with me from the first day you saw me, which only you and the goddess know about. I personally do not care what it is, but stay the f**k away from me.” My wolf wasn’t out. She didn’t need to be. But I knew my eyes were blazing. The class, the training, Ezra, and now her, it was all too much to handle. I needed an out for the rage building within me, but it wasn’t going to be the girl in front of me. Lycan or not, she couldn’t beat me. But she didn’t need to know that. “We’ll see about that, mutt!” she spat, then walked away, her stupid perfume clogging my nostrils.
