Some traps aren’t set by enemies… but by people you trust. The black SUV stayed three cars behind them. Same speed. Same distance. Same silent threat. Silas didn’t look directly at it again. Years of survival had taught him that staring at danger only confirmed you had noticed it. Instead, he adjusted the rearview mirror slightly. Just enough. Ivy leaned forward in the backseat, her voice low. “Still there?” Silas nodded. “Yes.” Her fingers tightened on the edge of the seat. “Are you sure it’s Syndicate?” Silas’s voice was calm, but there was iron beneath it. “I’m sure.” “How?” Silas turned onto a narrow street. The SUV turned too. “That headlight signal.” “What about it?” Silas exhaled slowly. “My father used to tell me about it.” Ivy frowned. “A signal?” “Yes.”
