chapter 1:safe travels

Soaring through the sky on an oak wood broomstick, was a majestic girl named maya. The cool summer breeze blowing through her beautiful lavender curls barley knocking off her turquoise witches' hat. A bright ray sunshine rubbing against her bright ivory skin.

She enjoyed zooming through the air with little too no care in the world, it was one of the few things in life to provide her with comfort and relaxation.

But she didn't have all day to herself,

Especially since she was currently delivering a package cross country, to a residence in the south.

This had been her second time making a delivery over-seas, and it was the only job she could find that suited her current abilities. And was also the only job she enjoyed, she was able to have fun and get some work done all at once.

The time was now 5:16pm, she had to hurry so she would be able to deliver the package on time, as to not be scolded by her boss again. She couldn't afford to lose this job, it payed well enough to keep her from being homeless, and there we're not many jobs out there for teenagers such as maya. This was the only job she could find, and she needed it to help support her mom and she wasn't planning on losing it any time soon.

She began to to fly at a more steady pace taking her into consideration that her boss might fire her if she doesn't stop messing around. within a few hours she had Made it to her destination, also successfully delivering the package with some time to spare. Since she had so much time, She went to a local store and with the sixty-eight-silver piece's she had she bought some parchment and quills to be able to write down addresses of future customers and also to create new spells. After maya in exited the store, she saw a few people yelling and cursing each other.

At first her gut told her to walk away to avoid conflict. but her kind hearted self decided to help them anyway. last week she had made a prototype spell to resolve disputes. she wasn't entirely sure that it would work however, since she had never used it before. But today would be the perfect opportunity to test it.

She took out her wand a fairly slender stick with a violet carved handle, plated with four small lapis lazuli gems on its handle and a small purple ribbon at its rear end. She aimed it directly at them. " Elta, madanis, venos!! " She shouted. as She sent a cyan beam at them. And in a flash the commotion was at a halt, Neither of the men knew why and what exactly they were arguing about. She walked away feeling content with a bright smile on her face. Today was a success, since the spell had took affect surprisingly, she decided to quickly scribble down the formula she used to create the spell Incase she might need it later on.

Not too long after the incident maya was walking down the decently crowded street, her head still facing downwards towards the parchment. it was at that moment she bumped into someone. " Watch where your going girl!! " a plump women with green eyes and blonde hair said to her with snobbish tone. " Sorry miss" maya said feeling guilty since she wasn't looking where she was going. "Ugh kids these days are so rude!" the women said with a hint of disgust in her voice. She then pushed maya to the side quite rudely and stormed off.

(I don't think it's us that are the rude ones around here). Maya thought intensely.

A few blocks down the street maya Spotted a market, and decided to drop on by to purchase some food for her trip back home. she bought 2 loafs of bread, 3 apples and a small bottle of water. as soon as she left the market though, she smelled something mouth watering. a stand in particular,

With Various kinds of cooked meats on the table, her mouth began to water as she knew she needed at least one of the various items for sale or rather wanted them. Without thinking she bought a gigantic chicken thigh not worrying about all the money she had spent. she took a small bite of the chicken thigh then wrapped it tightly in some cloth and stored it in her bag, she couldn't wait to eat such a delicious meal once she was home.

Maya then hopped onto her broom and dashes of into to the setting sky.

On her flight home it was already night-time and maya was exhausted, barely able to keep her eyes open.

(I don't think I can make it back home tonight) she silently stated in the back of her mind.

She wasn't sure she would make it anywhere in fact. as she silently flew through the florescent bright blue night sky she began to slouch to the side almost falling off of her broom, her eyes grew heavy. " I need to find a place to stay for the night."

as she glanced down she spotted a village with a forest not too far from it. She landed on the pavement in the town square, the streets were nearly empty only a few people walking by in a hurry.

She wandered for a bit in search of a motel or an inn. But sadly By the time she found one either they were closed or the place was full. She gave up looking for a place to stay. But There was no way she would make the trip home without sleep.

She thought hard for a minute, but due to the harsh circumstances she decided to do the unthinkable. She walked out of the village to a nearby tree. she climbed a giant tree in the forest near the town, she placed her broomstick next to the tree. She kept her bag close on a branch next to her. She slowly closed her eyes whilst yawning loudly, " I think I'll spend the night here. " She said as her eyelid started to grow heavier. she fell asleep on the giant tree branch.

The next morning she woke up to find all of her things were missing. "Shoot!?!"

She exclaimed someone had mugged of her everything she owned, even the materials she had bought yesterday.

That's when she heard movement not to far from the tree she was in, She hopped down from the tree with caution. as she poked her head from behind the tree she saw a man with dirty clothes and scruffy hair, sifting through her stuff.

This really blew a fuse, " Um, excuse me why are you going through my stuff ?!?! " Maya yelled irritated that someone had stolen from her.

Even though it was kind of her fault for sleeping out on the wilderness.

At that moment the man ran with Maya's bag away not responding to her question. She had no choice but to follow the stranger on on foot.

Maya's POV

I began to give chase to the man sprinting through the thick bushes around me.

I wanted too use my broom to chase the stranger but I had forgot it lying against the tree that I slept in.

After five minutes of running I grew tired of this man and decided to call it quits, when I Suddenly realized I can call my wand to me with ease. "Helta ,veldos, Petro!!! It appeared out of thin air and barley caught it since I was exhausted. without hesitation, and aimed it at his back.

" Ivas, strotos, natuz!! " I shouted angrily as I casted a Levitation spell stopping the strange man in his tracks. As I walked closer, eventually slowing down until I was too weak to move and was still trying to catch my breath. after several seconds of panting, I caught my breath and was able to speak. I began to yell at the man . " Who do you think you are stealing from me!?!?! "

" Sorry miss but I had too. " he began.

" I'm homeless and this was the only

I wouldn't starve out in these woods. please miss don't hurt me !?!"

He began to quiver. I felt a bit sorry for him especially since he was almost around my age , "I understand but that doesn't give you the right to steal from anyone. Especially running away from them when they try to obtain they're property. " I said in a calm tone. "If you wanted something you could've just ask."

I dropped him on the soft grass. as soon as I let him go, he darted away into the dark part of the forest without hesitation.

I began to gather my scattered things that were lying on the ground, my heart almost stopped when I realized that the stranger had eaten most of my food there was only one apple left for me to eat. Luckily he didn't drink the water or I would have personally Hunted him down. But my world came crashing down, when I realized that my juicy chicken thigh was gone.

" I should've killed him when I had the chance!! " I muttered under my breath my face fuming red. I began to to look around finally taking in how beautiful and luscious this forest actually was. "Wow" I said with amusement, this place is stunning.

I began to walk until I got back to the tree I was sleeping at.

I called my broom back to my location and walk through the nearby town once more. the sun was poaching my skin and beads of sweat slid down my forehead, evaporating as they went down. I used my hat to cover my face and took out the small bottle of water, " phew.. thank goodness I still had water on me. " I said with glee in my voice. I quickly gulped down the water not wasting a drizzle, but still this wasn't really much help since the bottle was so small.

After five more minutes of walking I decided to sit on a bench. The cool shade felt like heaven on my skin,

I took out a sheet of parchment and began to write a letter to her mom.

(Sorry mom I'm running late since I had to stop over to a town for supplies, will be Home soon) she scribbled down. She decided to Send a letter to her mom as informant as of why she would be late, she rolled up the piece of parchment and Levitated it with her wand. " Venose, Ivan, pelto" I said, as she transported the letter to my mom "When I arrived home I'll have to make a spell to transport myself to places instead. " I joked aloud.

She continued to walk more throughout the town, as she walked deeper into the Town- square she now realized how crowded everything was. the streets were bustling with people today. " geez, and I thought a small town such as this one couldn't have been so populated. " She said to myself quietly. But as I proceeded to walk further through the town, I realized something odd.

Everyone appeared to be in a rush, street stands were cleared out by the time everyone left. It was like a natural disaster was approaching and everyone was preparing. "Geez that's weird" I muttered quietly.

I went up to a lady Carrying four baskets in her hand barley balancing them properly.

" why is everyone in such a hurry" I ask the women.

" girl don't you know, the day of the blood moon is approaching!!! "

" Um, ok thanks for the info " I said nervously and backed away. a few minutes later I saw a particular store filled with trinkets, small totems and charms. I decided to head inside to have a look inside the store, I came across various isles with beautiful trinkets. then something caught my eye. I saw a particular isles inside the store the isles were filled with ancient looking spell books, seals and sigils. I picked up a totem called:

"the seal of irutpec ,hmm that's a weird name! " I exclaimed.
