CHAPTER FOUR The walk back to the hotel seemed to take forever, although it was probably only about twenty minutes. My head was all over. What had I done? What possessed me? This wasn’t me, what was I thinking? I knew one thing: I couldn’t answer any of these questions. I walked into the hotel foyer; no James. I made my way back to the room and found him laid on the bed sleeping. I tried to close the door quietly behind me, but the catch clicked as I closed it. James stirred and rose his head off the pillow. Rubbing his eyes, he called out, “Oh, you’re back then. I thought you had gotten lost.” I went to sit on the bed next to him. “No, I fell asleep on the beach, couldn’t believe it when I woke up.” “Tut-tut.
