Something breaks in his chest-visible, devastating. His hands cradle my face like I’m the most fragile thing he’s ever touched. His eyes glisten, jaw clenched against emotion threatening to spill over. Before I know it he’s grabbed me by the hand & pulls me to the elevator. He pushes me up against the wall as soon as we get in & presses the number 10 button for the penthouse. “I have a confession to make, Ashley.” “What’s that Adam?” “Say my name again.” “I like the way it sounds when you say it.” “Adam.” I say again. “Christ.” He says. “I’ve never brought anyone up here.” He tells me. “I know.” I say. Pouring everything he can’t say into the press of his mouth. His hands slide down my back, pulling me flush against him. When he breaks away his breath shudders.
