Chapter 1: New Job

Let me introduce myself. My name is Ashley Penbrooke & I have just moved to New York. I’m starting a new job at Blackthorne Inc. It’s the most prestigious company in the city. The company owns most of the shopping districts. Its CEO Adam Blackthorne has built quite the reputation. Before I had my interview I did a little Googling of my boss. Apparently he built his company from the bottom up and clawed his way to the top of the corporate world with sheer determination & ruthless ambition. He lost his dad when he was 12 and had to start early taking care of his mom. At 37 he’s the youngest CEO. He acquired 3 major corporations at 30 through hostile takeovers earning him the title of the most feared CEO on Wall Street and he doesn’t take no for an answer. Today is my first day & I’m one of his new secretary. He has 4 plus his assistant Sarah to help him keep up with everything he has going on from conference calls, to board meetings, & business trips. I’m already a little terrified. But I can’t believe they hired me. Let’s do this. Remember Ashley first impressions are everything.
