(SERAPHINA’S P. O. V.)
“And finally we have-“
“A lycan. There is a lycan here. She is a lycan.” A deep masculine voice cut in, his tone dark.
All voices suddenly ceased, and there was tension rippling in the air. It was clear from the anxious glances that the owner was someone of a terribly high esteem in the underground world.
A shiver ran down my spine, a rather unfamiliar one; one of pure pleasure. Heavens, his voice was desire itself! It reminded me of finely spun silk, or perhaps honey that had just freshly been extracted from its combs. Never in my life had I ever heard something as pleasurable as his voice.
Curiosity to know who the owner is took over me, and my head instantly snapped up to the side I heard the voice. That is when my eyes met his.
“… I want her. I’m buying her. She is mine.” The voice spoke again, but this time I was staring right at the owner.
I shoved down the unexplainable emotion of desire crawling through my veins that had activated the moment he had said that I was his, and let the hatred I had for him manifest in me instead. The sudden interest that I had in me towards him instantly dwindled, and morphed into venomous spite.
There he was, my unfortunate ticket to freedom, standing before me. The almighty King and Alpha of the werewolf kingdom of Thanata, standing tall in all his prudent glory. The infamous mafia lord of Italy and Spain, the godfather of all the godfathers in the underworld of middle Europe, Alejandro Hombrero.
He held my venomous gaze from where he was situated, the emotion in his eyes matching the one I had towards him. It reciprocated every ounce of the spite I displayed, if not more. I was not standing before any man, I was standing before a monster who was my mortal enemy.
As much as I hated to admit it, the bastard was goddamn attractive. Probably the most handsome man I had ever seen, I had to give him that. Yes, he was quite notorious for his ruthless and demonic nature. But among the females he was mostly popular for his terribly good looks. I couldn’t count the amount of young girls that I had come across who fawn over him both secretly, and openly.
Before I used to think that the nigga was just being overhyped by them. After all; it was classic for teenage girls to fan girl over anything they felt was cute. But now, as I beheld him, all I could say was damn. He truly was something that the gods took time to create. Unfortunately for him however, I wasn’t willing to change my mind from my main motive and be part of that simping population.
Hatred burned like hot lava in his magnificent icy blue eyes. Anxiety gripped me; had he recognized me? If he did, then I would be in terrible s**t. My whole plan would be blown off within seconds. I couldn’t let that happen.
But wait a second, wasn’t he supposed to be blind? I wracked my mind, trying my best to remember what people had said, and it matched what I knew. How on earth then was he looking at me? He didn’t seem to be someone who had lost his sight at all!
“That’s not fair!...” a voice finally dared to pipe up, and break the tense silence that swam in the air.
“… We are all here to buy, you know? You’re not the only one. If you want her, then stake your f*****g money, quit acting so entitled, as if you’re the only one who has the ability to own things!”
The extreme urge to break the bars of this f*****g cage that was placed on this goddamn podium, and get the hell down to give him a mighty punch on his face was strong. However I couldn’t do that. I had to calm down, and swallow the nonsense the walking ball of a man had uttered. How dare he refer to us as “things”?
Calm down, Seph, I said to myself, reminding me that I had to act weak in order not to arouse suspicion.
“You know very well that your thesis is a million percent true, Walker...” Alejandro replied the man with a cold and mocking tone to his voice.
The man turned red in anger. The color fit his appearance; he was now fully a walking tomato. I smirked at his reaction. This was quite entertaining to watch. All he could do, was stand there and cuss to himself.
For a few moments he wasn’t able to form a fitting response to the alpha king’s snide remark. He just stood there, boiling with wrath that he knew better than not to act on. The demeanour that Alpha Alejandro held, was enough to put out the warning to mind what you say if you wanted to stay alive, and in one piece.
“… plus, why on earth would you want to own a lycan? It seems to me that you cannot see how feisty she is, she needs someone who can fully tame her. You wouldn’t last even a second! She would kill you right f*****g away!” he continued, his lips pulled to the side in a badly leering smirk.
Walker threw his head back in laughter that sounded nearly manic, exposing the fact that he was most likely higher than a kite.
"As opposed to you who has the ability to see, I presume? Considering the only reason why you are able to function without a walking stick tonight is because it is the full moon, that is quite grand coming from you. How on Earth is a beever like you going to tame her?"
A few gasps of horror errupted from the crowd. This man just wanted to die tonight. Even I knew just how dangerous this man was.
The tension in the air rippled. I was sure that one could actually use a knife to cut through it now.
Alejandro's eyes glistened with the promise of chaos, as his plump lips curled into a menacing smile.
"Careful there, Walker. You wouldn't want to go fully blind too now, would you?"
They stood staring at each other, ready to attack any given second.
"Forty million!"
