Chapter 2

Time to work Izzy told herself, as she prepared her laptop. She often used her gifts to help herself make a living by live streaming tarot readings, physic readings, and many other forms of astrology. The platform she used, allowed customers to see her abilities, and chose to purchase a reading. “Hello again everyone, it’s me Izzy, and today Janice is up first. Hello, Janice, what would you like me to do for you today,” she asked waiting for the response in the comments below. Henry was obsessed with magic any form of it. With nothing to do during the day except f**k, and watch people get scammed he enjoyed watching different supposed physics. That’s how he stumbled across her live stream. “Ah so the little bird from before is a scammer,” he mused enlarging the screen so he could see better. “Janice your mother loves you very much she wants you to know that,” Izzy reminded her client. “not angry,” the older woman’s voice rang out in her head. “What a crock,” Henry hissed leaning forward, but then her eyes changed colors. “What in bloody hell,” he muttered leaning forward. “No Janice, she’s not angry at you honey. She forgives you about the pin,” Izzy spoke calm. Henry jumped slightly, was she looking at him? He could have sworn she looked directly at him. “Witch,” he hissed. He watched her finish the session with Janice, and he decided to prove her to be a fraud and humiliate her. He paid for his own session saying his name was John. “Hello John, how are you today,” she asked him. She was looking at him he was sure of it. Before he could respond she giggled a bit, “Ah, embarrassed to use your real name. Don’t be afraid everyone here is family, Henry.” His jaw dropped in shock. She had to be a witch no way around it, physics aren’t real he thought. Then again neither were vampires. “You caught me,” he typed out. “That I did,” she mused. “Well then tell me what do you see,” he asked her. “ There is a darkness in you. Something primal, almost predatory,” her eyes began to shift. Oh, this was getting interesting, and he leaned in again. “You were a kind child gentle and compassionate, but that changed,” she trailed off. He didn’t like where this was going he clenched his teeth at the memory. “You coddle the boy too much,” his father yelled dragging him from his mother’s side. “He is only a boy James, let him be,” his mother begged. “I told you. You can have you daughters, but the boys belong to me,” his father hissed dragging him out the door. “He’s only a child,” his mother cried weeping. “He’s to be a soldier, and no good soldier came from clinging to his mother’s t**s,” his father yelled placing him on top of a horse. “Take one last look at your mother boy. You have a new home and a new master. The Lord De Boit will take you as his charge, and you will be a great warrior earning us honor on the battle field,” his father stated leading him away from the manor. Blood began to drip from Henry’s eyes. This witch had him crying, and he would make her pay for having him relieve such a memory. “Are you there Henry,” the sound of her voice threw him into a rage. He flipped the table smashing the laptop and everything else in his path. Izzy waited, but he did not respond so she completed the rest of her sessions before shutting her own laptop down. “It’s not his fault,” a woman’s voice echoed into the empty room. “Not who’s fault,” Izzy asked. “His father was a cruel and power hungry man. He had no choice,” the voice answered. “Ignore her,” Xerxes advised. “She seems to want to talk to him desperately,” Izzy responded. “You can do nothing. There is no cure or salvation for such a creature,” Xerxes replied. Then the woman begin wailing hysterically, “My boy, my poor innocent child,” that was all Izzy could make out as the wails became louder and louder. Izzy tried to cover her ears, but the woman continued to wail. “Stop it! Stop it now! Can’t you see you are hurting her. Silence and be gone,” Xerxes demanded. Izzy lie gasping on the floor, trying to catch her breath. “Oh it hurts,” Izzy cried. “My heart is breaking,” she cried clutching her chest. “An empathy,” Xerxes muttered in surprise. “You have to breath,” he told her. “How can I breathe? It hurts so much… my boy.. my sweet precious boy,” she wept uncontrollably for some time before losing consciousness. “Izz, Izzy wake up,” Mel cried shaking her sister. “What. What happened,” Izzy asked sitting up, only to shriek at the presence in her home. “Mel, what did you do,” she cried dragging her sister behind her. “You friend met me at the driveway and told me you were unconscious,” Mel explained, but Izzy watched the threat slowly approach. “Hello again love, you know it’s not nice to dig into heads,” Henry purred tapping his temple. Izzy fumbled for anything to throw at the vampire in front of her. She picked up a large crystal pegging him in the head. “Run,” she screamed pushing her sister towards the back door. Henry howled in pain before throwing Izzy into the wall, his hands tightening around her throat. Mel grabbed the baseball bat by the door slamming it into the vampire’s back causing him to release her sister. They made it out the door, but he was in hot pursuit. “Go get Beth,” Mel yelled pushing her into the direction of Beth’s house. “I can’t leave you here alone with that,” Mel tried, but Izzy shoved her again before running the opposite way. “It’s not nice to throw things at people,” Henry hissed as he cornered the witch. “ Yeah, well it ain’t nice to come into someone’s house uninvited,” she countered searching for a weapon. “You sister let me in,” he pointed out. “My sister isn’t a very good judge of character,” she hissed. His grip was tight around her neck as his fangs pierced the sensitive skin of her neck. Her warm blood dripped down her neck, and into his mouth. Then it happened again, the ghost slammed into his body forcing him to release the girl. “Get out,” Henry screamed pissed off at the sudden invasion. “No,” the ghost growled forcing his body to leave it’s dinner. “For f***s sake I wasn’t gonna kill her just have a bit of snack is all,” he hissed as he was standing beside of a waterfall with dawn quickly approaching. “I warned you Henry. Now you will pay the ultimate price,” Xerxes growled. “Hey, no need to get nasty. It was only a small bite, and she hit me ya know. I could’ve eaten her sister and her when she was unconscious but I didn’t yeah,” Henry stated. The sun began to rise, and then the ghost released him as soon as the sun began burning the tips of his fingers. Henry sought refuge from the daylight behind the waterfall in a small damp cave annoyed by the previous events of the evening. “Damn Izz it looks pretty bad,” Beth mumbled as she patched up the wound from the bite. Izzy said nothing, choosing to inhale the smoke trying to relax a bit. “What did he mean it wasn’t nice to get in his head,” Mel asked staring at her older siblings. “How was I suppose to know that my client was the same guy that tried to eat me last night,” Izzy hissed as she exhaled the smoke. “He could have eaten you in the field, but he only bit you, what’s up with that,” Mel asked curiously. “Maybe, Izz taste bad,” Beth teased as they prepared a new barrier. “I can’t believe this ditz just let him in the front door,” she sighed narrowing her eyes at her sister. “Hell I though you had a new man,” Mel defended herself. “A new man, some kind of good looking gift from hell most likely,” Izzy scoffed. “So I’m good looking then,” Henry teased from the door. The women in the room visibly stiffened. Izzy once again reached for a large crystal only for the vampire to narrow his eyes and speak, “I thought I told you it wasn’t nice to throw things.” “And I thought I told you it was nice to come around uninvited,” she pointed out. “Don’t worry love, not gonna bite you again,” he sighed crossing his arms and leaning against the door frame. His pale skin stood out even more against the night sky. His gaze met her own, and he brushed the hair away from his eyes. “You saw it didn’t you,” he muttered. “Saw what,” she lied. He rubbed the bridge of his nose in annoyance, “If I were you little bird I’d be careful at the things I talk too.” “Is that a threat,” Mel challenged as Beth reached for the bat. “The lot of you are insane. And it is more like friendly advise, he said pointing at the sisters. “What happened to your hand,” Izzy asked eyes landing on the burned flesh. “Don’t miss a thing do ya,” he said before disappearing. “I don’t know whether to be turned on or scared shitless,” Mel said breaking the silence, and Beth nodded in agreement. “He didn’t come in,” Izzy said as the gears began to spin in her head. Come to think of it she hadn’t heard Xerxes since losing consciousness. What or who exactly did that voice belong to she wondered. “I’m beat,” she sighed as she watched her sisters leave. The barrier had been repaired, and nothing could cross now. Izzy closed her eyes, and let the darkness consume her.
