Chapter 2

ADAEZE'S POV.

(BEFORE DRAKE'S ARRIVAL)

"No!! don't hurt me please", I yelled as I was yanked from my sleep back to reality by my ringing phone. "Oh! what a da..y. first I got a heartbreak and now I'm having a nightmare in broad daylight. could this day be any worse?", I silently screamed while rubbing my forehead with my fingers.

while rubbing my eyes, I took my phone and glanced at the time, It was 19 minutes past 5pm. I unlocked my phone and saw I had some missed calls from my friend Judith.

Judith and I have been besties for a long time. we lived in same neighborhood while growing up, and attended same school. It's always fun when we're together, and we pretty much did everything together.

We didn't actually attend same university, as she was flown out of the country by her parents for her studies, but we still kept in touch while she was away.

She's the opposite of what peace and quiet is, and I love her vibes.

I dialed her number and waited while it rang for a few seconds. "Hello babe! wetin dey sup na? (what's happening)" Judith's voice sounds on the other end of the phone as she questioned me with our normal Nigerian pidgin English slang. " I'm fine dear. I've missed you so much. where are you currently?" I replied.

"you miss me and you couldn't call me. no dey lie for me (stop lying to me)" she responded laughing. " well... I just got back from Dubai and I'm currently on my way to your house madam. There's this killer dress I got for you, and know Drake' is going to go Gaga(nuts) when he sees you in it." she added without waiting for me to respond.

My heart pounded as soon as she mentioned his name "Drake". "great, just when I was trying to cheer up, his name pops up." I whispered to myself. "excuse me young lady, what's that you're saying? I can barely hear you." Judith's voice jolts me back to reality, away from my thoughts.

"I said you shouldn't hav..." I was trying to complete my sentence when Judith interrupted me. " hold on I'm at your place. allow me park my car and I'll join you shortly." she said hanging up the call.

Shortly after, there was a knock on my door. I stood up lazily and walked to the door. "surprise!!!!" Judith said hugging me as I opened the door.

"Judi..th, you just told me on phone that you were on your way here. so what's the surprise?" I asked laughing and trying to shake off the moodiness I was feeling.

"Adaeze, what's that look on your face?" Judith asked curiously observing my facial expression.

"it's nothing serious. let's talk about something else." I replied trying to brush off the topic. "since when did you start hiding secrets from me?" she asked frowning.

"Ada, I know you're not fine and I know the look on your face when something is wrong. so tell me young lady, Wha..t is.. the problem?" she said stressing her words and dragging me to the bed as we sat down.

"phew.. it's Drake" I sighed and said. "what happened to Drake?" Judith asked raising a brow.

"we were supposed to go on a date earlier today to make up for lost times but, he didn't show up after I waited for hours. I got to his place and found him in bed with another girl. they were both asleep when I got there." I said trying to hold back the tears, which was a total fail cause I was crying already.

"you know what?, let's leave this place right now. I'm taking you to my place to help you feel better. get dressed and let's go." Judith said urging me to stand up from the bed.

Without wasting much time, I got prepared in less than 10 minutes and we headed outside.

"don't worry about your car. you can leave it behind, I'll drive you." Judith said as I was about walking towards my car. I smiled and hopped in hers as we drove out of my space.

(JUDITH'S APARTMENT)

We got to Judith's place by 6:30pm. it was a smooth ride all the way.

"sit here and I'll get you something cold." Judith gestured to me pointing at the luxury beige coloured couch. I sat down and felt the softness of the comfortable couch.

Judith has always been this girl with a child like mind but acts tough when we're out.

"here you go." Judith said handing a chocolate ice cream to me. "since when did I start having chocolate ice cream?" I asked faking a frown. "see who dey talk o( see who's talking). you're going through a heartbreak and you're making choices. well I don't have vanilla ice cream, and trust me you'd love this flavour." Judith said amidst laughter.

"why are you like this? please change this habit of forcing things on me." I replied laughing. "that's your business. well eat up, the dress I bought won't wear itself." she said smiling. "thought you said you bought it for me to impress Drake? don't think there'll be need for that." I said while doing justice to the ice cream. "well you're not rejecting the dress I got you, and I just changed the tag to 'A CLUB DRESS' so finish up your ice cream and get ready, we're going to a club." Judith said feeling fulfilled as she smirked.

"guess you're forgetting something here Missy." giving a warning tone.

"who cares if you don't attend clubs? you're going to drink away you sorrows tonight and you're going to be strong tomorrow morning." she stood up and walked into her room dramatically.

"ughhhhh... you annoying mosquito." I whined, eating the ice cream left in my cup.

"at least I didn't suck your blood nor break your heart." Judith yelled while she laughed from her room. she's such a sweetheart, I sighed and joined her in the room.

"Here's your dress. go shower and get dressed. we're heading out by 9pm." Judith said tossing the dress to me. "Alright ma'am." I said laughing.

(NEXT MORNING).

" Wake up!! Wake up!!!!" were the words I heard while struggling with the pillow to get a good sleeping position. I ignored the voice trying to steal my sleep away from me.

"Wake up!!! Ada, it's almost 12pm and you're still fighting with a pillow that's probably tired of holding your head." Judith complained pulling my legs, trying to get me off the bed.

"just give me one more minute." I said with a sleepy expression on my face. " You said that 4 hours ago" she squealed frustrated. "Fine!!!!!!!" I said while stretching my arms and yawning.

" I thought you said I'd be stronger this morning? those drinks almost knocked me out." I frowned after rubbing my eyes, trying to get the dizziness off.

I can't say I actually enjoyed being at the club, I just had to go with the flow cause I was there to drink away my sorrows afterall. it was noisy and the smell of different alcohol mixed with heat and cigarettes filled the atmosphere.

Judith kept ordering drinks, and as you can guess I was the victim as those drinks were forced down my system by her magic words "ONE MORE SIP".

"Hey girl, guess what day it is?" Judith asked hitting me with the dress on her hand.

"sleep a little bit longer day?" I replied trying to adjust and dodge her hits. "No silly, it's day 2 of taking your sorrows away. we're going SHOPPING.." she announced excitedly.

"NO!!!!!!!!!!!" I screamed like I was being swallowed up by a tornado. "I'm fine and feeling better already" I added making a big fake smiling face.

"you can't fool me with that fake smile on your blank face. Get your butt up missy." Judith said picking a pillow and hits me with it. "I can't just get a good sleep when you're around, can I?" I said face palming myself before getting out of bed and walks into the bathroom. "sure you can't!!!!" Judith shouted with the sound of victory.
