Before I Met You

Chapter Five

This man in front of him has no choice in the matter. He knew right there and then that he had no option. He shook his head in displeasure. He found a very big secret that this man and woman was hiding from their children.

“ No wonder this is her punishment. God gave this punishment to them. I cannot save them no matter what the cost “ said the unknown male voice #1 as he took a deep breath.

The glasses were turned off on their own. And he looked at his book. A special book that has all the names of the humans. It tells the exact month, day, year and place of when these humans will die. It also holds information on how these humans will die. And where these humans will be placed after they die. The name of the woman lying on the bed of the hospital appeared in his book. And the name of the man next to the woman also appeared in the book.

“ Oh gosh. Both names appeared in this book. It seems like nothing good will happen. Oh even the name of their children also appeared in this book “ said the unknown male voice as he took a deep breath as he rubbed his chin.

He could tell when these human women and men would die. And it won’t be that fun to know about it. Especially when he also finds out that their children will soon die too. They would die in a crucial yet painful way. And he also knows that only one of their children will live. There’s no way for him to revive the dead. Even if there was a way, it would be at a very high price. He calls it “ A life for a life “. In other words, you would have to sacrifice yourself to save the people who are dear to you. But, if you somehow did a bad deed before then; and you make a request they would redeem it. 

But, they could only do it for only one year. However, if you are a person who did a good deed, but the husband or boyfriend did something bad; then the cost of that would be up to six months to one year.

“ It seems to me that I don’t have to take this human male and human female’s soul. It’s not their time to die yet. But very soon it will. And I have to prepare myself if these humans have a dying wish “ said the unknown male voice as he scratched the back of his head.

The man also saw an unknown name appear in the book. But the name was highlighted in silver though. It’s like their name is fading for an unknown reason. And then when he was about to leave the room, he felt a powerful surge of energy. It was coming from the same hospital building. But, the powerful energy isn’t in the same room. It felt like he’s being pulled towards it. As he was being pulled, the energy he felt stopped at this point.

“ Is it here? I felt like someone was calling for me “ said the unknown male voice as he took a deep breath.

He looked from left to right. There was no one at sight. He looked up. He read the sign. It says “ Baby Nursery “. He rubbed his chin. Then he scratched the back of his head. He was very confused. He doesn’t know why he’s here in the first place. He was about to enter the place, but he felt as if someone passed by him when he wasn’t looking. The sliding door of the nursery went open. And he heard the voice of a child. It was laughing and giggling. He saw two boys and two girls. He saw these kids curious. He didn’t need to eavesdrop.

“ First brother and second brother, wait for us “ said the little girl’s voice.

“ Come on, first sister and second sister. Don’t be a slowpoke “ said the little boy’s voice.

“ I’m not a fast runner like your second brother “ said the little girl’s voice as she tried not to sound annoyed.

“ We are here. Because, we heard from our mommy and daddy that our new sister is here “ said the little girl and boy as they were excited about it.

There you have it. The unknown man felt the same strong urge of energy. He could see that the room was filled with pure light. And that he can’t get close to the children. He felt that if he did, the newborn that was born would end up dying from his energy. However, that wasn’t the case. It seems like his black energy isn’t hurting these newborns. He didn’t seem to hurt these children either. It’s more different. And then his special book somehow slipped out of his pocket. The book became larger. And it floats in mid air. The name of the children suddenly appeared in the book. It was bright red like the blood of a human. Or the color of red apples. 

It was glowing so brightly when the book suddenly opened on its own. And the same name that is fading slowly in the book of death appears once more. But, it is written in a different character.

“ Oh, the first name of the children appears before me. But, when I read their name..W-w-what?! “ said the unknown male voice #1 as he looked surprised.

He felt a strong energy coming to this room. It won’t allow him to read the names of the children from the book. When he tries to, a strong energy appears to be protecting the name of the person it belongs to. This was the first time it happened for centuries. And he was up for a challenge. It makes him more excited than ever. He felt a strong surge of energy. He first thought it was coming from these four kids. But, looks are so deceiving. He could tell these four kids had a pure light surrounding their bodies. It’s as if someone or something is protecting them from danger. And then he stopped at the spot. 

He felt as if someone was looking at him. He turned around. When he turned around, a cute innocent baby started giggling and laughing for no reason. She appeared not to be afraid of him.

“ Y-y-you like my face. M-m-my face is scary to look at “ said the unknown male voice #1 as he was looking in the direction of a female newborn.

The innocent look coming from a female newborn appeared. With just one look, the man felt good for once. There was no sight of negative emotions. When he looks at her, she starts to look at him. She didn’t blink. She just stared at him even more. She tilted her head to the side. It was curious. When the man reaches out his hand to her, she starts to be excited in a happy way. She couldn’t speak to him, since she was still a baby. She looked at him some more. She opened and closed her hand along with her two feet. She made a sound as if she was giggling at his sight.

“ First brother and second sister, I found our new sister. Look '' said the second brother as he took a deep breath as he pointed in the direction of them.

“ Wow. Look, our new sister is giggling and happy when you approach her “ said the first sister to their siblings.

These kids didn’t know the reason why their new sister was laughing. They thought she was happy because of them. But, they will find it the hard way later on. At the same time, the light of the room has started to become hazy. It’s as if somebody doesn’t want to see what will happen after this.

** flashback over **

The man was back to the same spot. It’s as if nothing has happened. When he came back to his senses, the room appeared to be different. Before, the room he felt was cold. But, now the room has now felt warm. Warm like a summer heat. It’s like the room has apparently been cleaned out. And the person that was on the bed suddenly was not there anymore. And then he heard voices coming from outside the room.

“ It’s so sad. She didn’t have that much to live for. I wonder what happened to her family “ said a sad voice that belonged to a female.

“ Yeah apparently, the four kids that were with her were adopted, “ said another voice that appeared to be surprised.

“ Do you think those four kids are her children? “ said a voice that sounded confused.

“ I don’t think so. She’s too young to have kids “ said a voice that sounded skeptical.

The man continues to hear more voices coming from outside the room. It looked to him like voices coming from so many women. He stuck his head out through the door. He heard countless gossip. He also heard a lot of whispers here and there. As he put all what he heard, it gathered that the person they were referring to was a child. A child that wasn’t even ten-years-old yet. What’s even more odd to him was that he heard that this girl was dead. But, it was also strange to him. Because her name wasn’t on the list of his special books. And then a strange phenomenon appeared in the sky.

Everyone saw a flash of light. The light changes into different colors. Just like you see a rainbow from the sky. It was a miracle for humans. For they believe in superstitions. However, there were unexplained events happening in the hospital. The people who have diseases like leukemia and other cancers seem to be taken for a better life. Instead of those uncured diseases that were supposed to kill them; they were given another chance to live. A chance to live another few years to live with the people they loved. The strange occurrence has the same strong energy that the man has felt.

Among those lights, a group of mysterious people appeared at the hospital. They were looking for someone. Someone important to them.

“ Let’s do this! “ said a mysterious man #1 wearing a red skull mask.

“ Are we even allow to be at the human world ? “ said a mysterious man #2 wearing an orange skull mask.

“ Of course! We’re supposed to look for her “ said a mysterious man #3 wearing a yellow skull mask.

“ But, we have heard that her children was in an accident “ said a mysterious man #4 wearing a green skull mask.

“ True. But four out of those five kids were somehow adopted by THAT person “ said a mysterious man #5 wearing a cyan skull mask.

“ We also came here because we heard rumors that her fifth children died “ said a mysterious man #6 wearing a blue skull mask.

“ That’s impossible. She can’t die. Because if she did die than her people — “ said a mysterious man #6 wearing an indigo skull mask.

These groups of people stop speaking among each other. Because they felt that they weren't alone. They came into the room and they felt that she was here before.

“ That’s strange. She’s suppose to be in this room “ said a mysterious man #8 wearing a violet skull mask.

“ Do you think her body was moved somewhere in this human hospital building ? “ said a mysterious man #9 wearing a purple skull mask.

“ It’s possible she’s not here. Maybe these doctors think she’s DEAD “ said a mysterious man #10 wearing a magenta skull mask.

“ So, you’re saying that she’s somewhere still ALIVE when humans thinks she’s DEAD then ? “ said a mysterious man #11 wearing a pink skull mask.

These groups of people noticed that not all of them are here. It seems the others got themselves separated again. They decided that eight of them would stay in one group. And the other eight would be in a second group. They also were supposed to find her just like us.

“ Look you guys, we're not alone, “ said a mysterious man wearing a red skull mask.

He pointed at the direction of the death reaper.

“ Surprise! Surprise! Look like we’re not alone you guys “ said the same mysterious man wearing a red skull mask.

“ What is your majesty, the death reaper here in the human world ? “ said a mysterious man wearing an orange skull mask.

The death reaper turned around. It looks like to him he’s not wanted here. He was going to leave when one of them blocked his way.

“ Come on now! We’re not here to interfere with you “ said a mysterious man with a yellow mask.

The death reaper starts to get annoyed. He doesn’t want to deal with these annoyances. They heard a giggling sound in the room. The voice sounds like a girl. A mysterious person appears. The person wasn’t of the same height as them. This time it was short. Like an average short person. They shouted at the person.

“ You guys are so funny. You’re fighting. That’s not a good example for children to see “ said a mysterious female voice #1.

“ It seems like you guys want to know who I am. That’s for me to know and you guys to find out “ said a mysterious female voice #1.

“ If you want to know me, then come and catch me “ said a mysterious female voice #1.

After that, the person appeared behind the death reaper. Then the person pops out in front of this group of mysterious men. The person looks at the death reaper. It gave him a disgusting look.

“ That’s not nice. You shouldn’t look at other people’s memories “ said the mysterious female voice #1.

“ That’s not your job as a death reaper. I wonder what your high superior would say that you’re goofing on your job “ said the mysterious female voice #1 to the death reaper.

These men, especially the death reaper, look at each other. They looked skeptical. They want to know this person knows the job of a death reaper is. When they were going to ask the person, they felt an elemental power going out of control. They could feel the elemental of water, fire, water, earth and air.

“ Oh dear! That’s my cue to leave “ said the mysterious female voice #1 as he or she took a deep breath.

The person pops in and out. When they turned around, they saw the person standing outside the hospital room door.

“ I was having fun with them. Why do I have to go back? “ said the mysterious person #1 as he or she is mumbling to themselves.
