Before I Met You

Chapter Twelve

Mara uses her hand as she rubs her chin. Then she stops rubbing. She uses her right hand and places it onto her chin. She stays quiet. The room was completely silent. She closed her eyes as she took a deep breath. As she dug into her memories, she heard an unknown voice.

“ You need to relax, “ said an unknown voice to Mara.

Mara doesn’t know if she wants to respond to it.

“ You shouldn’t think too much about it, “ said the same unknown voice to her.

As Mara was thinking again, she wasn’t aware that there wasn’t any sound from the room. It was fine with her. She likes the silence. In the meantime, the beautiful nurse and Dr. Knight stayed not that far from her. They whispered at each other in a quiet tone.

“ Is her memory coming back ? “ said the beautiful nurse to Dr. Knight.

“ I hope not. We don’t want her to remember that night “ said Dr. Knight to the beautiful nurse.

“ It’s also strange that Mara’s actions resemble THAT very same person she mentioned, “ said the beautiful nurse to Dr. Knight.

“ True. But, THAT person doesn’t want Mara to remember THAT night. It was the best option available not since after— “ said Dr. Knight to the beautiful nurse.

“ Yes, I know. I resemble so much to THAT person. But, we have different personalities though. I’m not a nice and gentle person “ said the beautiful nurse to Dr. Knight.

As Dr. Knight and the beautiful nurse were talking to each other, a strange wind appeared out of the room. It was reacting to someone. The strange wind surrounds Mara. It wasn’t Mara’s doing. Mara went way too far into her memories. Her movement stopped. She fell into a deep slumber. The same voice that spoke to Mara appeared. Mara’s hair changes. Instead of her normal yet natural hair color of black. It was a sudden change into the purest white hair just like the moon. She slowly opened her eyes. As she slowly opened her eyes, Mara’s brown eyes changed into purple.

“ Come on, Dr. Knight; you should already know by now “ said an unknown voice that appeared from Mara’s mouth.

Dr. Knight turned around to hear the same voice he remembers as. The beautiful nurse was awed at what she witnessed. The beautiful nurse approached Mara.

“ H-how c-can't-this be? Is that you little sister ? “ said the beautiful nurse to Mara.

“ Yes, It is me. But, I’m borrowing Mara’s body “ said the girl to the beautiful nurse.

“ Elder sister, you should recognize my action since my soul was absorbed by Mara’s body “ said the girl to the beautiful nurse.

Mara slowly stands up to the same level as the beautiful nurse.

“ So, it seems like Aiden hasn't woken up yet, '' said the girl to the beautiful nurse.

“ No, he hasn’t been awake. Not after you know “ said the beautiful nurse to the girl.

“ It was for the best. I didn’t want Aiden to know who I am. It’s my fault that darkness has started to invade the human world “ said the girl to the beautiful nurse.

The beautiful nurse just sighs. She shakes her head to the girl.

“ Nothing is your fault. We shouldn’t have taken things lightly. It was both our jobs “ said the beautiful nurse to the girl.

“ Ah right! I don’t have time. It seems Mara is about to come to her senses. Please, you must check on her body. Since, I’m also her. She’s also carrying—- “ said the girl to the beautiful nurse.

The girl was cut off short when Mara went back to her senses. The beautiful nurse tries her best to act normal. In a short moment, Mara felt pain from her stomach. She could feel that something or someone was kicking her. Mara starts screaming. The strange wind touches Aiden’s face. As the strange wind disappeared, Aiden slowly opened his eyes. As he opens his eyes, he slowly whispers to himself, “ my love “. Aiden starts to wake up at the sound of someone yelling. When Aiden got up slowly, he thought he saw someone familiar to him. The beautiful nurse looked at Dr. Knight. He got off the hospital bed. He walked towards Aiden.

“ Hello, young man; do you remember your name ? “ said Dr. Knight to the man.

The man nodded to him.

“ Yes, my name is Aiden Bennett Marcel “ said the man to Dr. Knight.

Dr. Knight nodded at Aiden’s answer to him.

“ Sir, who are you ? And where am I ? “ said Aiden to the doctor.

“ Oh where is my manners? You are in the hospital. And I am the head doctor of the hospital. My name is Carson Knight “ said the doctor to Aiden.

“ Do you remember anything before you came here ? “ said Dr. Knight to Aiden.

“ I remember I was with a beautiful woman. This woman looks like this nurse in the room “ said Aiden to Dr. Knight.

The doctor slightly laughed at his response. As Dr. Knight and Aiden talk among each other, the beautiful nurse checks up on Mara. She touches Mara’s body. As she touches her, the tiny life form is then transferred into her own body. And the soul of the girl that Mara was embodied into left her. It was absorbed into the body of the beautiful nurse. The soul was absorbed into the womb along with the tiny life forms.

“ You felt any pain Mara ? “ said the beautiful nurse to Mara.

Mara was surprised. She felt no pain anymore. She showed expression on her face. The nurses took notice of it.

“ There’s no more pain. Is there anything I can do for you Mara “ said the nurse to Mara.

Mara took a deep breath. She didn’t respond to the nurse. She was distracted. The intoxicating scent lingered into the air. The scent was peppermint mixed with vanilla and cinnamon. As Mara was looking for the scent, the nurse closed her eyes. And she was talking to her other half.

“ Well well little sister. It’s a pleasure to see you’re doing okay inside of me “ says the nurse speaking to her mind.

“ I feel the love here, elder sister. Anyways, I found out who Mara really is. And also she’s not a human “ says the girl after she pokes through Mara’s memories.

“ Oh elaborate for me little sister ? “ says the nurse to her little sister.

The girl’s soul was floating into the air inside the nurse’s consciousness.

“ Didn’t you notice anything strange from Mara ? “ says the girl to her elder sister.

“ Her scent was too sweet to my liking. And also Aiden’s scent. Even if he’s human “ says the girl as her voice aches in pain.

The nurse opened her eyes slowly. Mara was there staring at her. She smiled at her.

“ Can’t you feel it, elder sister ? You’re also stronger the same as me “ says the girl speaking to her in her mind.

“ She doesn’t have the scent of a human. She has the scent of one of the supernatural “ says the nurse to the girl.

The girl laughs.

“ I knew you recognized it. Mara is half-werewolf and half-human. One of her parents is either werewolf or human. Go find out “ says the girl to her elder sister.

“ The way Mara is acting is that she just found her mate’s scent. And we all know that scent belongs to Aiden “ says the girl as she knew who Mara was and who Aiden was to her.

The girl did the right thing. She sacrificed herself. It was her duty to save the life of someone other than herself. The girl is fully human. But, she was born with immune abilities. The girls in her mother’s generation also were the same as her. She didn’t have any brothers. Just one older sister. And The older sister is the head nurse as we speak. Since, the girl died. She has accepted her fate as the moon goddess. And the child she was carrying from Aiden will be the first werewolf to live on in the human world. Two boys and two girls. The girl’s will have white hair. But, their eyes will be blue. 

And the two boys will have purple eyes, but their hair would be black. They will live a luxurious life in her stead. The girl spoke of the plan to her elder sister. The nurse sighs. She would do as her little sister says. Since, she found out that her little sister is the moon goddess herself. Her memories have returned. She has to go back to the moon. And have her little sister take her place as the moon goddess of all supernatural. Since, she and herself are descendants of Queen Cybele. They are born as humans. But, they could still inherit inhumane abilities. As her little sister has her memories returned, she cannot live her life as a human anymore. 

Nor could she allow herself to go back to Aiden. There’s no hope. There’s no future for her and him. She cannot take away someone’s mate for her own happiness. This was the only option she had. Her memories returned after she died. After she saved Mara from the pending doom that darkness set upon her. And her action left her withering in pain from the aftermath. She had no choice, but to leave Aiden in Mara’s care. She saw a future that she wasn’t in. And she knew instantly who the woman was in Aiden’s future. She hopes the best for his happiness. She knew that Aiden would forgive her in time. 

If he had his memories returned, she hoped that he would love Mara as if he loved her. It was the only thing to make different species love each other. Like their other half like a soulmate does. She cannot change someone’s destiny for her own. That wasn’t the will of the previous moon goddess before her. She will watch Aiden and Mara over. She knew she had children. And that Aiden is the father of her child. Aiden is a human born from two human parents. And for her; she wasn’t really human to begin with. She was next in line to be the moon goddess. Just like queen Cybele did centuries ago. 

She has her memories back. She was actually the moon princess of the moon kingdom. Alongside with her elder sister, she too was also the moon princess of the moon kingdom. Her elder sister wanted to stay on earth where the earth kingdom was. A place that their father used to live upon. Her elder sister has chosen to stay where humans lived. She was fond of humans. And she was fond of helping people survive. She didn’t need to clip her wings. She was welcome back to the moon if she wished. It wasn’t her time to rule the moon kingdom. Her elder sister needs to find her true love. 

The one who would rule the moon kingdom together with her. As for her little sister, she had already taken the role as the moon goddess. She would watch over all species and supernaturals in this case. Since, she was given the same name as the previous queen. Queen Cybele. She was the queen of all supernaturals. And her sons were the king of all humans. Queen Cybele’s daughters were the first princess of the moon kingdom. They live on the moon. Only the youngest of Queen’s Cybele’s daughters could become the next in line to be the moon goddess. Since, the moon goddess was the mother of Queen Cybele. 

It was solely her wishes alone. In all fairness, the moon goddess gave Queen Cybele all the gifts from the moon. As she was the daughter of the moon goddess. Queen Cybele ruled both moon and earth.The kingdom of earth perished a long time ago. It was a betrayal of the people that the king trusted the most. But that is another story. The queen Cybele was saved. Because she was already born with immortality. She is also a goddess. One of the perks in being the daughter of the moon goddess. Cybele’s mate was of course human. Her children weren’t humans. They all inherited immortality from their mother. So, they couldn’t die at old age. Nor do they contract any diseases that humans get. 

They are all immune to anything and everything. They cannot die. They are immune to death. Immortality is a blessing. But, it could also be a curse. Queen Cybele’s children could only live up to one hundred years old in the human world. They cannot stay in the same city where everyone knows them. Because, they found out that none of them couldn’t die like humans could. Then, they would consider them as a ‘ monster ‘ living on earth. And they would excuse them. Except, they cannot die at all. That was one of the curses if you were born with immortality. The people that these immortal children have will be a torture to them. 

No matter how many months, days, years and time have passed. The people around them will disappear, wither and die. Leaving them all alone again. It’s a repeated cycle. Cybele’s daughter could only stay and watch. They cannot mention anything about her lineage. They do not have the requirement. Her daughter’s children do not want to live it up. They want to live a normal life as a human. As they decide so, they give up their immortality to be with their love. In doing so, they would still have their natural gifts. That cannot never go away. The children of theirs will continue to give birth to humans with inhuman abilities. 

While the sons of Queen Cybele will continue to reign and rebuild the kingdom of earth. Queen Cybele saw the future. She knew the identity of the girls who would be their successor. As the successor is of course her descendant. If Queen Cybele is able to die then her memories and powers will be transferred to the successor of who will be the new moon goddess. It was her will. She knew who Mara was long before she was born. She knew that Mara’s father was the werewolf. And her mother was human. So, it’s natural for her to pair up with humans as her mate. 

It made the person equal to each other. Along the way, it was to create more supernatural in the world. She just hopes that there aren’t any greedy humans coming to ruin it. You know the ones that they call themselves ‘ hunters ‘. The people who hunt werewolves. And they hunt all supernaturals. And the kind that hunts humans for mating either werewolves or supernaturals. It’s the kind that humans don’t agree with. They say it's an abomination. A monster, you see? They don’t want hybrids to be created in the world. They think they would destroy anything in its path. Or they would be evil. 

It’s true though. Hybrids aren’t monsters. Unless they wish to become one. Never have mates. Never had anyone controlled them. But, in doing so; it will make the life of hybrids lonely and die alone. They need a companion. They need to feel love. They need to understand each other. There was once a world. A world where everyone is treated equally. No matter if you are human or supernatural. They lived in harmony. They live to roam freely in the land. Without being judged by their own races. It was once ruled by Queen Cybele and her human mate. But, not everything is all it seems to be. 

Some are against these supernaturals. And other beings living in harmony together. They prefer war against everything else. They want to spread their darkness. They want to keep their reign in check. They want them not to have freedom. Like mindless zombies if you know. It lasted over a century of war. Everything changes. The humans will live in their own world. The supernatural live in their own world. The mythical creatures will live in their own world. They are all divided on the same planet earth. The portals to each world will be sealed. Never to be opened.
