I sat playing cards with Ivy for a little while, and she was crafty. I swear this sweet little old lady was cheating, but each time I looked at her suspiciously she smiled at me sweetly, and I doubted my distrust. “So, you have a thing for my little Autumn, do you?” she asked, a cheeky smile upon her face. Nothing like being direct, was there? “We only saw one another yesterday…” I began. “Hmm, excuses excuses. You have known each other a long time, from what I heard.” She tapped my knee, and I met her knowing gaze. Now, did I assume this meant she had been asking after me, or that Autumn had been talking about me?
