Owen's POV "Mary? Mary, answer me!" I gripped my phone so hard the screen cracked. She'd stopped responding thirty seconds ago, right after saying someone broke into her apartment. Now the line was still connected but silent except for muffled sounds that made my blood run cold. I was already in my car, speeding toward her building, my wolf clawing at me to go faster, to get to our mate, to protect what was ours. I never should have let her go alone. I knew better.
