“He’s your what?” I accidentally yelled out, causing heads to turn in our direction. “Oh I’m sorry everyone, I’m just a little cuckoo I the head hehe” I said awkwardly hoping they’ll stop staring at us. “She’s so funny” he suddenly said feeling amused. “This is my twin brother Jacob, he can be extremely annoying at times” Dawn said to me while rolling her eyes as if she was irritated by his mere presence. «TWIN» did I hear that right? Nah that’s impossible they look… I turned my head to look at him and then turned again to look at her, at that moment I realised how almost identical the looked. Looking at them it’s easy to tell who the problem child obviously is, Dawn likes to wear ponytails, messy buns, over sizes T-shirts and sweatpants.she wears this nerd looking glasses that hides her beautiful blue eyes I saw at the party. On the other hand, her twin brother Jacob is the complete opposite…. I feel like he’s more of the super bubbly yet rebellious type, the kind of guy to have women fainting for him. I mean he does have the looks so I gotta give it to him.. Now where was I??
“Please could you say that again? My mind was somewhere else” I said to her with my jaw dropped! “Oh I said he’s my twin brother, I know it’s hard to believe because we look nothing alike” she said to me sounding super convinced. “Damn” was all I could say! “I didn’t quite catch your name” he said to me leaning over his chair. “Jada” I said to him while leaning back a little. Only a fool would be blind enough not to notice how uncomfortable I was, and I couldn’t take it anymore. Suddenly the lights in the seminar room started fluctuating….
“What the hell? Isn’t this supposed to be a new shop, which means actual new everything?” Jacob said, as he stood up to go ask questions and investigate the matter. My heart was pounding and I needed to relax, everyone was looking around as they were also confused about the fluctuating lights. “This is my chance now or never” I said to myself, quietly sneaking out of the room. The hallway lights were also fluctuating which means every bulb in this brand new café is f*****g faulty. I was alone in the hallway and I finally got a chance to breathe, I closed my eyes and exhaled feeling more relaxed and less anxious. As soon as I opened my eyes I noticed that the lights stopped blinking. What a coincidence?
“Oh thank goodness it stopped” I heard a familiar voice from the seminar room say. “Oh wait where’s Jada?” It was Dawn’s voice. s**t I gotta go! I quickly went back to the receptionist’s table that I had met earlier. “Hey do you know when we’ll be done?” I asked her. “Umm I just got a call from my boss saying I should let you all know that you can leave, and come back for the second half of the seminar tomorrow due the fact that the lights were faulty” she said to as she stood up walking towards me and then the hallway leading to the stairs for the seminar room. “I guess I’ll get going then, see you tomorrow” I said to here with a broad smile on my face. “There she is, hey Jada wait up! We were looking for you” said dawn as she was walking towards me.
I don’t know what got into me but I started to run home as fast as I could without looking back!
«AT HOME»
I was finally in my bed, staring at the empty ceiling wondering what went wrong? I bumped into a cute guy who happens to not only be related, but is also a twin to a girl I met at a party. The same girl I didn’t even wanna see again or even talk to, and they both of them work in the same café as mee? Coincidence? No more like Deja vu ! What is going on? Maybe I’m over reacting, Dawn seems like a really nice girl and her brother…. Err not so much, but maybe Dawn and I could end up being friends? I have no friends and I grew up in an orphanage home. They called me a witch, bad luck, crazy and you can only leave the orphanage home once you’re 16. I ran away when I was 12 and I ended up getting adopted by a random companionate couple who happened to be rich. It was a dream come true for me, I finally had parents to care for me and a home. They bought me everything I wanted but nothing lasts forever and with my badluck, they ended up dying. It was an unfortunate death and they had no kids of their own, I was to inherit everything but the lawyer ran away with the documents concerning my adoptive parent’s property and hasn’t been seen since last year. After the funeral I was lucky enough to take the remaining money from our family safe at home which was purposefully made for emergencies. Well that’s the story of how I started over again, I rented this apartment and my landlord doesn’t even give a f**k about who’s here as long as you pay the bills on time. I’m running out of cash and I desperately need to work, with my medical records I don’t think anyone would take me. I don’t know how on earth I landed this job without a background check but I’m extremely grateful.
I stayed in bed deep into my thoughts and before I knew it, the day went by so fast.
