Lana A funeral bell clanged and echoed throughout The Underground. I could hear the wailing sobs of the fallen Guardian’s mates and their children as we all congregated in the citadel square. I stood at the head of the Alphas, my hands shaking as I gripped a lit ceremonial candle. Not because of the dead warriors, whose bodies were never able to recover in our haste to escape the Master’s lair, but because there would be no funeral bells for Cross. I kept my face within the shadowy confines of my hooded cloak, my silent tears pouring down my cheeks. “Nine went and only six of them returned. Their valiant efforts will be remembered. The Moon Goddess will surely reward them in the Everworld. Though today may be painful, take comfort that they are dancing in paradise with the Sun
