Chapter 13
Violet's POV
I couldn't even catch my breath when I heard footsteps heading into the room, the nurse returned, this time with a man trailing behind her. I was guessing he was the doctor judging his coat but the moment he laid eyes on me, something shifted in his gaze.
I had to look away to calm my racing heart. There was something about him I couldn't quite understand but it made me feel weird inside.
“This is the patient,” the nurse said quickly but she didn't step past the doorway. I'm sure the reason was because Axel had scared her.
The man barely acknowledged her, I could feel his gaze burn through my skin.
“Nurse” he murmured, a quiet command that made her tense. “Calm yourself.”
She inhaled sharply. “You don’t understand. Her wounds—”
