When I land back at the werewolf castle, the panic has fully set in. Not only have I lost my best friend, but now I’m up against the shapeshifters too.  I swallow down the bubbling bile in my stomach and shake my head to get rid of the dizziness, then take off running to find Eric. We didn’t part on good terms last time, so I need to try to salvage something. I need to protect the wolves from this plot. First I check the great hall, but it’s empty. Albert still has the village on lockdown. I run through the courtyard, the stables, and the halls. He’s nowhere to be found. Then as I round the corner of one dimly lit stone hallway, I collide face-first with a protruding belly. Albert. “Sorry,” I sputter as we both regain our footing. I adjust my dress and move to take off running again,
