My whole body wants to collapse to the ground and sob, to just surrender to the crushing sadness that is consuming my entire being.  But somehow, some way I have to put one foot in front of the other and move on. The world is depending on me. If I don’t manage to get this treaty done, the Angels will come for me and I’ll be forced to go up to heaven with them. I don’t have time to wallow in self-pity. So I yank the veil and tiara out of my hair, then look down at it with spite. I was such an i***t to think that this day would end happily. Me… the queen of the werewolves.  Yeah, right. I throw the veil and tiara toward the treeline with a gut-wrenching scream, letting out all of the anger and pain that I’ve been bottling up.
