“You mean…?” I say, my mouth hanging open. “You don’t feel our connection?”  He shakes his head quietly. The others are eyeing us curiously, and I feel my face flushing under their burning gazes. I feel so many things right now. Disappointment, hurt, anger… relief. Having that “mate” bond hanging over my head was so much pressure. Perhaps we can just pursue our relationship like a normal couple now? But then… then there's Robin.  I just want to go find a quiet place and scream at the top of my lungs. This is so frustrating.
