Selene’s Pov.
“There’s someone you should meet.” Alpha Marcus said, “I want you to talk, I can’t bring you out right now because it would cause uproar in the Pack, we need to settle things.”
I was taken secretly to a meeting hall by Alpha Marcus and asked to wait, so I sat there, staring at the blank wall, and didn't know what to think or make of this.
I saw him whisper to his Luna when she came into the meeting room, she stared at me with teary eyes and fell into the arms of her Alpha. He spoke to her in a hush tone, and I couldn’t hear what he was saying, but when she stared at me, it was only for a split second.
Her gaze turned back to the Alpha. “I’m going to bring her.” She said and left the meeting room.
I remained calm since he wanted me to wait here. The cloth I was on was stained with blood, I needed to cover up because I couldn’t walk around with the Alpha naked.
The door opened and I saw her walk in.
Morgan.
She was taller and more slender, her black hair was longer, and she was dressed beautifully. Her golden eyes still glimmer innocently but I wouldn’t be deceived the second time.
I pushed my chair backwards and got up, her eyes settled on the blood on my body.
“Oh my goodness.” She placed a hand over her mouth and burst into tears. “What happened to you?” She cried harder.
I stared at her and I didn’t feel anything but betrayed. Even now, she was acting as if she cared about me when she didn’t. “I’m so sorry, Selene.” She wanted to touch me, but I took a step back.
“Did they try to hurt you?”
“How could they do this to you?”
“Selene.” She called me calmly, and my gaze met hers, behind her eyes there wasn’t anything genuine, the tears came out but held no meaning.
“After the escape, my mind was clouded. I didn’t know what happened or what I was doing anymore.”
“I don’t want you to hate me for what happened, and…” She swallowed. “I wasn’t sure that I had mistaken my identity, when they took me, they said I was the Alpha’s daughter.”
“But you didn’t have a wolf, Morgan.” I reminded her because she seemed to have forgotten.
“That didn’t matter to them because they got to love me as their daughter.”
Her words cut through my chest, and she stared at me with indifference. “But when I learned the truth, I had grown too attached to Alpha Marcus, he takes good care of me and dotes on me as his daughter, and his family. I couldn’t turn my back on them when they chose to love me.” She wiped her tears, I noticed that she was wearing the pendant beneath the turtle neck dress she wore.
“But the Pendant was never yours.”
“You think I don’t know the truth!”
“You gave it to me!” She gave a fake cry. “And they didn’t even want me to leave because they wanted me as their long-lost daughter, Selene. I tried all I could.”
I shook my head in disbelief.
“You tried? What did you do, Morgan? I trusted you as my friend, I did everything to keep you safe, I…” My voice was breaking.
“I went back to the orphanage,” She interjected quickly. “You won’t know but I did, I went back there, Caleb and I. Caleb is the son of the Alpha of Blue Moon Pack, though he was betrothed to you, but he’s now mine.”
“He already said I’m the one he wants.”
I scoffed. “What did you come here to do, Morgan? Say it to my face how much you wanted my life?”
She wiped the tears from her eyes completely and sniffled. “Caleb and I went back to the orphanage to look for you, Selene but we found out that you had already been adopted.”
I chuckled bitterly, the look on her face was that she was not sorry at all for what she did to me. “You came back after three years! Why didn’t you come back for me when you found my parents?”
“I told you I didn’t know! I thought they were my parents too.”
“You are such a liar!” I yelled at her.
“You care about no one but yourself, you’re so selfish.” I was pouring it out on her.
“Go ahead and tell me why you pushed me ?” I asked.
She glanced around the room, Alpha Marcus was behind us with his Luna, he was holding her close while watching us but his eyes were softened on Morgan who had been crying, Morgan blinked her eyes, and brought the sad, pitiable look back on her face.
I hate how quickly she was in tears.
“My hands were slippery, I didn’t mean to let go, I would never do that to you.” She reached out to hold my hand affectionately again but I pushed her back.
“That’s a lie!” I snapped.
“You deliberately pushed me, and now you attempt to look for me? The whole three years I was at the orphanage I never heard from you! I never saw you either, why would you lie?” I countered.
“It was all a mistake,”
“You have to listen to me, Selene, I never meant for it to happen.” She sobbed, and I couldn’t believe my eyes.
“You knew from the start that the pendant belonged to me.”
“And I never stole it from you, you wanted me to have it,” Morgan shot back. “Why are you so difficult to understand that I tried everything I could, it wasn’t my fault you got caught, if you had been fast enough we would have been able to escape.”
She held my hand and rubbed it, I yanked it out of her grip and dragged my step back from her.
The pretentious smile was almost on her face but she hid it.
“I don’t know who you are anymore, Morgan.”
