Chapter 6

1045 Words
Kara I don't know what I did to deserve this. Remembering my wedding night with Stefan gave me hope. I wanted to go back to the past. I've spent the whole night thinking about Sara's pregnancy. While I slept at home alone, he spent nights deceiving me with Sara. How shameless that man was. He hurt me and didn't feel any remorse. Stefan was a monster. I know I made the right decision by leaving and hiding my pregnancy. I know I didn't have the right to forbid my children from having contact with their father, but Stefan wasn't a good person. I didn't want my kids to have an evil stepmother like Sara. I felt so lonely in the hotel. Today was my first prenatal appointment. I was nervous. When I arrived at the hospital, I waited in the waiting room alongside the other mothers. Their husbands accompanied all the women, and I was alone. I wanted to cry, but I held back the tears. I looked at my wedding ring. I still haven't taken it off, as I didn't want to, but I knew it was the best thing to do. I remember Stefan proposing to me in front of the entire pack and family. He organized a huge party and vowed to love me. I thought I saw love in his eyes, but I was a fool. Sara was at that party and congratulated me on my marriage. Who would have thought she would become his fiancée? "Your babies are fine for now, but I'm worried about you," the doctor told me during the examination. I felt relieved for my children but worried about my health. "He rejected me. My husband rejected me," I confessed. The woman was a werewolf. "Oh... I understand," she looked at me with sympathy. "It happened recently. I think the curse is real." "It is," she affirmed. "What? Do you know something about the curse?" "I know from my parents. My father rejected my mother. She had me but died before childbirth. They saved me, but it was a close call. The curse is real. We need to take care of you, Kara. Otherwise, you'll die. It's a painful and cruel death. Have you talked to the father? You should. You'll need someone to take care of you." "No! He doesn't know where I am. He doesn't even know I'm pregnant." My gynecologist was specific. My death was drawing near. I took a taxi to my new job. I cried the whole way. Derek was waiting for me. My new job was at a bar, serving drinks. He gave me a welcome hug when he saw me. He was so different from Stefan. "Hello, Kara! Welcome!" he smiled, but his smile faded. "What's wrong? Have you been crying?" Derek led me to his office and gave me a glass of water. "What's wrong, Kara? Tell me. You can trust me," he caressed my cheek. I knew I shouldn't have told Derek the truth, but the pain ate me. Being alone here wasn't benefiting me. Going back to Seattle wasn't an option. Derek and Stefan didn't get along; they were rivals, so I confessed my problem to him. Derek had been very kind by giving me a job, inviting me for coffee, and even offering to pay for an apartment. I hoped not to regret it later. It was my biggest secret. "I'm pregnant, Derek. Stefan's rejection has affected me. Now, the curse is upon me. My life is at risk." "What are you saying, Kara?" "What you heard. But you can't tell anyone about this. Stefan doesn't know about it. If Stefan finds the truth, he'll want to take my kids away." "Kids?" "They're twins." "For God's sake, Kara! You're in danger!" "I know! Please promise me you won't tell anyone! It's a secret." "I promise, Kara," he hugged me. I clung to him. Derek was my only company in this city. Stefan I haven't been able to sleep at night. I haven't been able to sleep peacefully since my friend gave me Kara's file. He and I have been searching for her. I wasn't sure, but I think Kara left town. Sara was sleeping peacefully beside me. We had just gotten engaged. We also announced Sara's pregnancy. We had a celebration party. The whole pack attended, but nobody was happy with my decisions. They loved Kara. When they knew about our divorce, hurtful rumors about my upcoming marriage spread like wildfire. I got Sara pregnant on the night of our first encounter. That day, I drank so much that I ended up in bed with her, but I never intended to cheat on Kara. I felt guilty for a long time, so I divorced Kara. But now everything was different because Kara was also going to have children. The next day, I met my best friend in the company office. "Do you know anything about her?" I asked my best friend. "No. We haven't found it yet. It won't be easy to locate Kara. When Sara finds out you're looking for Kara, she'll leave you. It will be worse when she finds out she's pregnant. Everything is going wrong, Derek. It's your karma." "Shut up!" I demanded. "Have you heard about the curse? Do you remember the stories our parents used to tell us when we were kids?" "Curse?" I didn't recall. "The Moon's Curse. When an alpha rejects his Luna, a curse falls upon her." I remembered. My parents had told me that story hundreds of times. However, they always told me it was a myth. "What's going on? Do you think it's true?" I questioned. "I've researched it, Stefan. I've found cases. Everything points to it being true. If you reject your Luna, her life is in danger. All the cases I've read have a tragic ending," he explained. "Luna dies?" I felt fear. "Luna dies," he confirmed. No! I couldn't let anything happen to Kara! My heart pounded. I had to sit down and loosen my tie. "What's the estimated time of life?" I feared asking. "It depends on Luna. But she's pregnant. Your children are also in danger." I would find her. I wouldn't stop until I found Kara. I promised myself.
