I know I said that the best thing I could do was to ignore it. But what a mistake. The battle between my mind and my heart was driving me crazy. I wondered which side would win. I felt like this struggle would never end. I felt it would embed Stefan in my heart until the end of my days.
Contradicting my mind, I walked back to the door of my apartment. I opened it for Stefan. He was still there, standing, waiting for me. His eyes lit up when he saw me, and a smile appeared. I felt foolish, but I smiled back at him. I knew this wasn't right because if Derek arrived and saw us together, I would disappoint him me.
"You've always been bipolar. But I didn't think to this extent," Stefan joked. I laughed and widened my smile. He looked at me with a gleam in his eyes.
