Ivan had arrived in a hurry. He simply went through the leave approval process afterward and took time to clean the old house.
He stood by the window. From there he could see Serene's home. Serene clearly did not want to see him. Ivan did not force it. He bought some items and went to pay respects to Mrs. Hale.
