Sydney I sat silently in front of the coven as Tori spoke. “I have felt it. An ancient power has awakened. It calls to us. It feels familial. Do you feel it?” Heads nodded in agreement, while many of the younger coven members stared on in confusion, unsure how to identify the sparks of power stirring inside them. “A war has been brewing for a long time,” Tori continued. “It is escalating now, and we must be certain that we fight on the right side. If we insert ourselves into the wrong conflict and lose, the consequences for all witches—all creatures—could be catastrophic. We need to determine who wields this power, what connection they have to the coven, and what intentions they hold.” I remained silent, guilt churning in my stomach, knowing I had played a role in everything unfolding
