Lacey I ran down the stairs as howls ripped through the palace. The darkness salivated, pushing against my body like it was a barrier. I began to sweat, my body heating like I had been working out for an hour instead of simply running down the stairs. I opened the door to find warriors and pack members alike shifting into wolf form and running in opposite directions. My stomach dropped. My eyes fought to quickly adjust to the last bit of brightness from the setting sun and take in everything. It was pure chaos. I couldn’t see what was going on through the crowd, some in wolf form, some in human, running. A mix of howls and cries filled the air. I looked back.
