Lacey Excited yips and short howls filled the air as we ran through the forest. The wind rushed against my face and Serene let out an excited little howl of her own. Turning, we glanced at Fin and snapped our teeth playfully in his direction. Mason immediately responded, clumsily bumping into our side. We stumbled slightly and he quickly tried to catch our tail with his teeth. Fin’s voice popped into my mind through the pack link. “Are you okay? I warned him to chill out or I would shift back. He’s just excited to see Serene. I haven’t let him out in a while.” My heart sank, thinking about Fin and Mason’s strained relationship and how I had probably made it worse — first when I wanted to choose someone else, then when we ignored our wolves, fought our feelings, and bad things happened
