I watched from the doorway as Ellie ran a hand through Lacey’s long dark hair.
“I told you to stay the f**k away from that girl from the start. I told you Lacey would never forgive us, and I was right. You ruin everything,” Mason screamed at me.
“I know, I know, but it’s too late to change anything. The only thing I can do now is be a good beta and a good mate from a distance,” I said, letting the pain simmer inside me.
Lisa walked beside Ellie and Lacey, dropping to the floor with tears running down her face. “Oh, Lacey,” she whispered. “I’m so sorry. This isn’t how our new lives were supposed to start, but you are so strong. I know you will come back to us.”
I fought my own tears, unwilling to let them see me cry. I walked over to them, bent, and slid my arms under Lacey’s legs.
