Lyra put on her skates with a lot of force the morning. The arena was still quiet from the game the day before. Her body remembered the way Kael touched her the way he talked to her and the way he made her feel. She did not sleep well she had dreams about ice and Kaels body on top of hers. She got up. Shook her legs to get rid of the feeling between them. The game against Riverrun was in two days. She did not want to be weak because of her feelings for Kael.

The team got on the ice early. Coach Harlan was watching them with a face. They did drills skating very fast and hitting each other hard. Lyra was angry. She used that feeling to skate faster than ever before. At one point she felt a surge of power in her legs. She took the puck from Rylan and shot it very hard.

Coach Harlan blew the whistle. Said "That is the fire we need Vale. Whatever is making you play like this keep it up."

Kael was watching from the middle of the ice. He looked very proud of her. Also like he wanted her a lot. Their eyes. Lyra felt a strong connection to him. She saw that he was trying not to come to her. He wanted to.

Selene noticed the way Kael was looking at Lyra. During the practice game Selene hit Lyra very hard and she fell into the boards. Lyra got up angry. Selene told her to stay down. Lyra tried to go after Selene. Kael stopped her. He grabbed her arm. Pulled her close. "Easy " he said. "Do not let her make you angry it will make you play badly."

His touch made Lyra feel things she did not want to feel. She pulled her arm away. Not before she touched her leg to his. "I am not bad at this " she said. ". I am not going to let Selene push me around."

Practice. The team was very tired. In the locker room everyone was talking about the game against Riverrun. There were rumors that the other team played dirty. Kael was giving instructions. He kept looking at Lyra. When everyone left he stayed.

"My father wants to talk to me tonight " he said. "He wants me to marry Selene to make our team stronger before the championship."

Lyra felt a pain in her chest. "What do you think about it?" she asked.

Kael stepped closer to her. "The only thing I think about is you " he said. "Every second of every day. I can feel your heart beating when you are across the ice. I can taste your desire. It is making me crazy."

Lyra touched his face. "Then stop fighting it " she said. "I want you, all of you. Not just secret touches in the dark."

Kael put his forehead on hers. "If I take you fully everyone will know " he said. "My father will be angry. Riverrun will want to hurt you."

"I do not care " Lyra said. "I feel stronger when we are together. Like my body knows what it needs."

Kael kissed her, hard and deep. They touched each other urgently. Kael lifted her up and put her on the bench. He took off her clothes. Touched her with his mouth. Lyra cried out it felt so good.

After a while Kael. Stood up. His eyes were golden. His lips were wet. Lyra wanted to touch him but he said "Not yet. When I take you it will be in a place, where I can make you mine properly."

They got dressed and left, separately.

That evening Lyra met Rylan in the cafeteria. He looked at her. Smiled. "You look happy and frustrated " he said. "Did Kael finally give in?"

Lyra kicked him under the table. "Mind your business " she said.

Rylan got serious. "Riverruns scouts were seen near our border " he said. "They are not just coming for a game. They want to see if the rumors, about you are true. You could change the power structure."

Lyra stopped eating. "Selene can try to be Kaels mate " she said. ". I am not giving up."

That night Kael came to Lyras room. "My father told me to stay from you " he said. "He said our bond is a weakness.. I could not stay away."

He kissed her hard. They fell onto her bed. They took off some of their clothes and Kael touched her making her feel good. Lyra came again crying out his name. Kael came too spilling inside his pants.

"I hate this secrecy " Lyra said. "I want everyone to know you are mine."

Kael promised her that it would be soon. After the game he would tell his father the truth. Lyra was his mate, no one.
