Beyond Strangers Lana • Kurt Kurt Owen that was the name of the panic attack boy, Lana remembered as she peeled the towel off her body and pulled on a Mickey Mouse pajama on. She bounced on top her bed looking at the ceiling as images of his face this night flashed through her mind. She tried to conjure up images of him from before this night maybe from school or anywhere but nothing came up. Except small glimpses of his face she remembered seeing in a class or as he walked down the hallway. She wasn't surprised that she didn't know him or has never spoken to him before this night. He was the spotlight kind of guy and she was anything but. From the little she knew and remembered, Kurt Owen isn't the kind of guy you'd imagine having a panic attack on the side walk. Not that panic attacks were meant for particular kinds of people or anything. But when you she hears the word 'panic attack' a timid person comes to mind. Kurt Owen was not timid. Not in any sense. He was tall, lean muscular, really good looking. Lana thinks he plays in the school baseball team but she isn't exactly sure. School stuff weren't her thing are at all. She wondered if he was alright, if he made it home, if he was sleeping right now or catching a cold from the water she poured over him. A ghost smile came upon her lips as she sat up, crossing her legs in front of her. She really did pour a full bottle of water over him and boy did he look shocked. Of all the things she had done today, meeting Kurt on the sidewalk seemed to be the most important. Even though she hadn't earned any money from the encounter, she felt as if she saved a life. Like a hero. Lana reached for her phone wanting to share the news of her save with her best friend. Narrowing her eyes in confusion she stared at the battery dead phone. Last time she checked she had about forty percent battery. Not wanting to add to her worries, she quickly charged it and went downstairs to drink water in other to while away time. Patience wasn't a trait she was lucky to get. So the minute she arrived back at her phone she turned on the phone and gasped in shock at the wallpaper staring back at her. There was nothing gruesome or horribly ugly about the wallpaper; in fact it was too cute. It was of a golden Retriever holding a rose between its teeth. Lana cooed in away before slapping some sense into herself this wasn't her phone. Her phone's wallpaper was one of the wallpapers set in the phone nothing cute or fancy. She immediately switched to the phone's gallery– grateful that there wasn't any password or code – and this time her jaw almost hit the bed. There were a lot of pictures here. So many pictures, grouped differently. Opening a group, she awed at the magnificent photographs in there. Whoever has this phone must be into photography. The phone suddenly light up followed by the chirp of a bird. Lana chuckled at the creativity before opening the new text. She hesitated a bit. This wasn't her phone, opening somebody else's text would be rude and snoopy of her. Her hesitation lasted two seconds and she was already opening the text. The phone was in her custody now and the person texting might be the owner. The idea of her phone being lost hadn't yet settled in her and she wasn't ready to accept the possibility. The phone ringed and it was a text: Pink Huh? What kind of text is that? She frowned at it. Maybe it was some code word between whoever owns the phone and his or her friends. Another text came in. Do you have my phone? Because I have yours Her widened immediately recognizing the number as her own and she texted back. Yes, I do. Who is this and why do have my phone? Beats me; I'm the guy from earlier today. The one you doused in water. Kurt Owen? Wait... you know me? Yes, I do. We attend Jefferson together. Oh s**t. Oh bloody s**t! Um….. You've told the whole school about our encounter, haven't you? No, not yet. I was about to tell my best friend but then you're with my phone so... Ok, great. Please don't tell anyone about today, I beg you. How are you with my phone? how are you with mine? must have switched right after you poured water all over me. you seem to be hung up on the fact that i poured water on you. I am. You wet me right down my pants. Must have been pretty….. :) Did you just wink? Oh man. I didn't see you as a pervert, pink. I'm not! I just wanted to be amusing. You failed. You don't need to tell me. Wait, you didn't affirm whether or not you'd tell people at school about me Oh come on. I want to spill so badly. It’s my most interesting news this week. Please don't. Not without my phone, I won't. I need my phone back. Hmm What? Nothing, I've got to go. Wait my phone... Goodnight pink. Pink? Oh and I hope you took a bath? You stunk badly today I fell into some crappy water! Kurt?
