Chapter 2

The Aftermath Claudia's POV The bed felt so soft, the smell from the bed sheet smelled different. I rolled over, the bed quite bigger than the bed I was used to. My hands slowly pat the empty side of the bed only to feel pillows. As I turned, a sharp beam of light flashes through the curtains poking my eyes. I squinted immediately, my hands rubbing my eyes. I turned to see a man standing by the window side at the other end. I looked at the room, taking it all in. The large floor to ceiling window was draped in expensive curtains and the room was large enough to contain five king size beds. By the corner of the room was a mini bar with all kinds of wines in stock. I turned, my eyes darting towards the empty wine glass on the bed side table, a half burnt cigarette and a half filled glass of wine. My gaze went back to the man standing by the window. He was adjusting his cufflinks, he stood there not bothered by my obvious confusion. I tried to recall what happened but my head aches, it suddenly felt heavy and I had to hold up my head with my hand. My hair fell over my face as I threw it back, beneath the bedsheets was my naked body. My grip tightened on the bedsheets upon realization. “You're free to go now. Last night was a mistake, whatever happened here remained here.” He said, his gaze still fixed outside the window like he was staring at something that was calling his name. I sat there, still very confused. “Mistake?” What is he talking about? I tried to remember last night, however fragments of last night reappeared. I remember drinking the glass of wine he had offered me, collapsing by the door side, throwing him on the bed, pressing my lips against his and the rest was history. “What did you add to my drink last night?” I asked, finally regaining my voice. “What are you talking about?” He asked. The man turned, his eyes locked against mine. My eyes fell on a tag attached to his breast pocket. Sebastian Walter. CEO “Don't play dumb Sebastian,” I said, his expression slightly fazed as I mentioned his name. “I remember you offering me a drink and the next thing I knew, I was on you.” I said. “It's a good thing you remembered that you initiated whatever happened between us last night.” Sebastian said, walking towards the coat hanger close to the mini bar in the large hotel room. “Are you trying to gaslight me? You drugged me and then r***d me. Do you…” “No, no,” Sebastian said, cutting me off. “I didn't r**e you. I had your consent and you had mine. It was s*x not r**e and if you're going to make a big deal out of that I'm out of here.” Sebastian said, his coat flew on his back as he walked towards the door. “Where do you think you're going? You drugged me and r***d me!” I yelled, I had not expected Sebastian to regard my remark but he did. He turned. “I advise you to forget last night like it never happened. It's better for the both of us that way.” Sebastian said before slamming the door behind him. I sat there still confused about the whole situation, tears rolled down my eyes as I sat on the large comfy bed. My grip on the bed sheet tightened as I held it across my chest. “It's all stepmother’s faults.” I cursed inwardly. My stepmother, Claire had accused me of stealing her $35,000 diamond jewelry and no matter how hard I tried to prove my innocence she didn't believe me. She kicked me out of the house into the cold evening air saying I shouldn't return home if I don't have $35,000 with me. I don't blame her, if only my father had not died during that plane crash, if only he was still alive, I wouldn't have experienced the awful experience I have to live with now. Ding! Ding! A notification popped on my phone screen. My eyes darted towards my phone that was carefully placed on the bedside table alongside the empty bottle of wine although I did not remember placing it there. I picked up my phone tapping on the screen. It was a message from Vanessa, my friend. After my stepmother kicked me out Vanessa was the only person I could run to. Vanessa had promised that she had a job for me and with just one night I'll be able to pay off the jewelry my stepmother accused me of stealing. I was hesitant at first but the pay was enticing. I regretted every part of me that had agreed to taking the offer. “Check your account. I wired the money. You can go home now.” The message reads. Immediately after reading it, I felt something within me, it felt like I was finally putting the puzzles together. Vanessa didn't bother to ask where I was? Why didn't I come back to serve more drinks? And all those questions that show a friend who cares but it turned out that I was deceived by my own friend. I was traded. Sebastian was just another customer to Vanessa. What Vanessa did was she would look for desperate women and convince them to take up this job of serving drinks. However, before the drink is taken up to the guest room by these desperate girls they would have already spiked it. And the line….. “Drink it so I would be sure it's not poisoned.” That line was just another excuse to get the girls to drink the already spiked drink and afterwards they would have s*x with men like Sebastian and while Vanessa filled her pocket she paid the girls she had sold to men peanuts. My grip tightened on my phone as the thought of betrayal rippled through me. I felt foolish to have thought that Vanessa was my friend. I didn't realize when a bead of tears rolled down my cheeks. I wiped the warm salt water that flowed down my cheek with my hands as I pressed on Vanessa's number hitting the “delete” button afterwards. I placed my phone back on the bedside table, I placed my leg on the floor as I walked towards my gown that laid on the floor like a pool and my underwear that sat on the bar table like a drunk woman in love. Knock. Knock. I heard a knock coming from the door. Who was that? I wouldn't want them to see me like this.
