Chapter 2

Kurt pov I closed the door to the joined bathroom and sighed, leaning against it. I was trying my best, but it was so very hard to calm myself. ‘She’s seventeen, she’s seventeen, she’s seventeen...’ I repeated over and over again, my heart beating like crazy. ‘She called you a child molester.’ Brandon, my wolf, snickered in my head. I growled softly at him, getting off the door and straightening my shirt. ‘I’m not a child molester. I’ve been engaged to her for four years, I’m allowed to be attracted to her.’ I snarled. I couldn’t stop thinking about her cute little curvy body, wishing she didn’t hide it under the baggy clothes all the time. ‘You’re twenty-two.’ Brandon reminded me. ‘Yeah, and she turns eighteen in a couple of months, not that big of a deal! Now stop already, she’s going to be our mate soon!’ I said. ‘What If we find our true mate? We haven’t found her yet.’ Brandon argued as I went to my bedroom mirror, licking my finger and trying to smudge off the dry blood. I could hear Lilian in the shower and I didn’t want to make her hate me even more by going in there. The last time I accidentally walked in on her she was only brushing her teeth but she told me she’d cut my throat if I ever did it again. ‘Obviously the moon goddess doesn’t have a mate for us, or we’d have found her by now I’m sure. Maybe it’s not for everyone, not everyone who’s turned eighteen has gotten true mates since Tate and Adaline started it all off. Sure it’s been a few, but not everyone.’ I replied to him. Everyone was excited by the true mates, Alpha Tate and Luna Adaline, my brother Alarick and his husband Lyell, Caileen and her husband Brandos, also even Ulric and that girl from the Snow moon pack! So many true mates in one year made everyone flip out, but we soon discovered it didn’t seem to be happening for any of the adults, and not many of the eighteen year olds either. Every once in a while someone around nineteen or twenty would get mated to an eighteen year old, but that was about it. It seemed like the moon goddess was being picky with true mates. Brandon growled, annoyed at me, but didn’t say any more. I heard Lilian leave the bathroom and I waited a few minutes, then went in myself. She always left her bathroom door open, I wasn’t sure why, but I thought of it as her way of secretly letting me keep a check on her even if she didn’t want to admit it. Either that or she just didn’t like being alone, but that could just be my ego telling me that she felt safe with me. Not that she needed to worry, I watched her constantly. I saw her gathering her school things through the crack in the bathroom door and I turned on the water, wetting a towel and rubbing off the blood I missed with my spit. Once I was finished I quickly combed my messy dark gray hair and slipped my finger into my hair gel. I rubbed it together in between my hands and threaded my fingers through my hair, then combed it again so it would dry like that. Afterwards I washed my hands, and then jumped when I heard her open and close her bedroom door. I hurried back into my room and grabbed my things, slid on my shoes and raced out the door. After Adaline and Tate had Colt Lilian got into a fight with me about being too close to her all the time, so I tried my best to give her distance but made sure I was watching her all the same. I watched as she walked down the stairs and went to the common room, saying hello to Adaline as she was trying to slip a light coat onto Colt. He was four now, and Adaline was putting him into the same preschool that the twins were in. “Can’t catch me! Uncle Kurt! Hide me!” Little Colt said, running out of Adaline’s grip and diving in between Lilian’s legs. He squealed in laughter as I picked him up, throwing him in the air and catching him again. Lilian watched me with a soft smile, but quickly glared at me when she noticed I was watching her. Adaline came over to me and smiled at me, thanking me while I held him for her to put the coat on. Once that was finished I realized Lilian was gone and I raced out the door, onto watch her thanking the warrior for bringing her the bike. She begged Tate to give her the motorcycle when she turned sixteen, since he never used it anymore now that he was a father. I nodded at the warrior letting him know I was here and he raced to get my car for me. I leaned against the stone pillar and watched Lilian with lazy eyes trailing up and down her body as she straddled them bike. Of course she was wearing her signature long sleeved shirt and baggy pants, but even on a motorcycle the clothes were pulled tighter. I couldn’t help but wonder not for the first time what it’d look like If she’d wear normal clothes. ‘Freaking stalker.’ Brandon muttered, interrupting my train of thought. I frowned at him, standing up straighter as she revved her engine. ‘You’ll feel different about her once I mark her.’ I growled at him in annoyance. He rolled his eyes in my head, but didn’t speak again. There was nothing wrong with me being in love with my fiancé, or attracted to her. The warrior pulled up in my car right after she took off and I raced after her, trying to keep far enough away to not annoy her. Once at the school I watched as she parked her bike and got off, pulling her hood over her head and walking slowly inside. A few human girls pushed her and she flipped them off, then she disappeared into the building. I growled in frustration, annoyed. I couldn’t do anything about humans. I parked my car and got out, stretching as I ignored the gathering of girls who were oogling me. I graduated when I was eighteen, but I wanted to stay near Lilian so I got a job as the librarian. It was boring but we weren’t expected to do much. I was apparently better than the last one who was never there, and as long as I went everyday and kept it tidy, made sure the books were ordered and up to date, then I was fine. The principal loved me, even as a human which was strange, especially since I slept with his daughter and threw her aside when I was in high school. Then again, he tried to hit on me too which made me realize he was either bi or only with his wife for a cover. I have no idea why I was so popular, as for looks Tate looked better than I did, but maybe it was my looks and my playboy status that brought me on top. The fact that I was easy to get, back when I didn’t give a f**k. ‘Man whore.’ Brandon said with a chuckle, making me roll my eyes at him. I walked down the halls following Lilian from a few feet away, watching all the kids with disdain. Everyone either ignored her like she was invisible or shoved into her. She was their Gamma, but she wasn’t exactly old enough to be full Gamma yet and she was always alone and quiet so most forgot about her title since she never seemed to use her Gamma command on anyone. All she had to do was command them to leave her alone and they would, the wolves anyway, but she always held back in a way I couldn’t help but feel sad about. Why did she want to fight me so badly for the title if she never used it? I ignored the flock of girls trying to plaster themselves against me as I followed her from far away, staring down at my phone as a disguise. She knew I was in the school, she’s seen me enough times in the library to know I worked here, but so far she hasn’t seemed to realize I followed her everyday. I stopped when a particularly nasty group of girls shoved her against the locker. “Hey freak! Watch where you’re going!” A girl shouted in her face. I watched with disdain as she curled up in a ball and held the hood tightly over her head. The girl gave her a sharp kick in the side and I jolted forward, then stopped in frustration as she looked up at me through the bottom of her hood. Her beautiful light green eyes pierced into mine with a furry as she glared at me. I knew she didn’t want me to interfere, she’s yelled at me enough times, but it annoyed me so badly she wouldn’t let me help her. The girls got tired of her and walked away with disgust, talking about how she was dirty and they needed to go wash their hands now. I watched as she slowly got up, brushed the dirt off of her clothes and gathered her books. She turned around and glared at me again as she walked into her classroom, a clear threat that I wasn’t going to follow in the least. Once I couldn’t see her anymore I followed the group of girls to the bathroom, then walking inside. The shrieks were loud as the girls turned to see me in the bathroom, and I rolled my eyes at the drama. The humans inside all ran out talking loudly over how hot I was and wishing I’d throw them against the bathroom stalls, but I ignored all of them. Beth stared at me, her hand on her hip c****d to the side with all kinds of attitude. She was the leader of all of it, and it pissed me off. Her long black hair fell to her butt, curled and loose everywhere. She wore the skimpiest clothes you could ever wear and I couldn’t understand how she got away with it. Everything about her radiated “queen bee” and it annoyed the f**k out of me. Ignoring the other girls I walked over to her, banging my fist into the wall besides her head with a growl. She raised her eyebrow at me, not even flinching, the cocky little thing. “What, Gamma Kurt? You want to get back together with me? I’ll see what I can do.” She said, snapping bubble gum in her mouth. The girls around her giggled and I glared at them all, a growl ripping from my mouth. Before I could say anything the the bathroom door opened, and I turned my head to look automatically. Suddenly Beth grabbed my face and kissed me, catching me off guard. I heard a gasp behind me and I shoved Beth off of me, my heart sinking as I heard her. Lilian stood there, her mouth hanging open in surprise. I went to say something to her but my mouth couldn’t form words, I was blank. I stared at her, the pain and the hurt radiating in her eyes was suffocating me. “Um, excuse me, privacy much?” Beth yelled out, making both Lilian and me jump. She nodded slowly and backed away. “Wait! Lilian!” I yelled, holding out my hand to her. She shook her head no and backed out the door, shutting it behind her. I turned around and faced Beth with a loud warning growl, slightly satisfied when she flinched in fear. “What the f**k is your problem!?” I screamed in her face. The other girls of her stupid high school posse screamed in fear, and I turned to growl at them. They ran out the door, and I pinned my other hand on the other side of Beth’s face. “I never even dated you. We slept together, once, a long time ago. Stop spreading stupid rumors, and stop treating Lilian like crap!” I yelled at her. She rolled her eyes at me, ducking underneath my arm. “What are you talking about? We’re friends, haven’t you noticed? I’ve known her since she was five. She had slumber parties at my house.” She said with a chuckle. I rolled my eyes at her, watching with crossed arms as she pulled out makeup and put more lipstick on lips that were already covered. “Don’t I look beautiful?” She asked, Puckering her lips at me. “You look f*****g unnecessary, if you ask me.” I growled at her, punching the mirror in front of her face. She gasped as it splintered. “That looks better.” I said with a chuckle. She glared at me, and I ignored her, walking out the bathroom door. I looked over towards Lilian’s classroom, wishing I could burst in there swoop her up and show her how much I didn’t want any other girls but her. ‘Great job you’ve done so far, buddy.’ Brandon said with a laugh. ‘Shut the f**k up Brandon.’ I growled at him as I stomped off to the library, running my fingers through my dark gray hair. “Kurt! How nice to see you today.” I smiled at the teacher in the classroom near the library and she swooned, making me chuckle. These women were going to be the death of me.
