By the time we got there, the situation looked worse than I thought. My mom shouting and throwing my things out the front door, screaming and shouting like she was possessed. She went back inside the house. We parked the car and I immediately saw Audrey’s hand reach for the door handle. “Stay in the car Audrey please” I couldn’t hide the desperation in my voice but I know he would refuse. “Emmy I can’t just stay in the car and watch this. I want to help you” “No Audrey please let me handle this in my own”. I said sternly. “You know where I am if you need me then” he smiled and his smile was so full of warmth and compassion, it helped more than any smile had ever helped me before.
