Leon's POV: She was gone. Once again, she disappeared, leaving me in the shadows. Three years ago, she had gotten into a car and disappeared without looking back. Now she had done it again. The difference was that three years ago, she had been on her way to die. This time, she was on her way back to her life. I stood in the shadow of the parking garage and watched her taillights recede until they vanished at the far end of the road. I did not move. I did not call after her. Beside me, Emily was crying.
