Chapter 4

A dry brown leaf floated in the breeze. The leaf swayed as it slowly descended. Just as the leaf fell in the middle of the distance between Kenway and Radek, they both sped up to attack each other with their wooden swords. Kenway was not fast enough, so when they were close enough, Radek got the chance to strike first. He slashed at Kenway from the right. Kenway's body reflexes, which had begun to be trained, moved quickly backward to avoid Radek's sword thrust. Kenway stepped back slightly and immediately attacked, countering Radek's attack. But the attack was easily blocked by Radek's wooden sword. Radek immediately turned to attack again after successfully blocking Kenway's attack, the attack almost hit his left cheek, luckily Kenway managed to block Radek's sword with his sword. "That was close, he was really serious about attacking me. If I don't parry this attack, I might break my jawbone." Kenway said to himself, he had to be more careful. As he endured the attack, Kenway smiled. He became more energetic after receiving a strong attack from Radek. "Good, looks like you're serious about fighting me." "Sorry, Prince, I was just carrying out your orders." Radek smiled respectfully. Kenway then swatted away Radek's wooden sword and quickly moved to Radek's left side, attacking him with his sword as hard as he could. Just as Radek managed to quickly parry his attack, Kenway's right foot kicked Radek's waist with such force that it threw Radek several meters away. Although Kenway's body was shorter and thinner than Radek's, the force of Kenway's kick was strong enough to knock even a tall, stocky man off his feet. The soldiers watching couldn't say anything for a while after seeing Kenway successfully kick Radek. They could only whisper to nearby colleagues, commenting on Kenway's surprisingly powerful kick. The atmosphere became a bit tense. Accompanied by the whispering voices of the soldiers lined up neatly behind him, Radek, who was lying on the grass, slowly began to get up. "Are you okay, Radek?" One of the soldiers behind Radek asked. Radek just nodded his head, indicating that he was fine. Although Kenway's kick had been very hard, it didn't seem to be enough to hurt Radek, he only felt a little pain in his waist. Radek's right hand held his waist as he stood up straight to look at Kenway, smiling. Earlier, he had looked down on Kenway, underestimating his ability because of Kenway's thin body and being smaller than him. But this time, it seemed that Radek had become more wary of Kenway because of the kick that had just hit him. Kenway prepared to attack again when he saw that Radek seemed to be okay. He was beginning to think that Radek was really strong, so Kenway felt no need to hesitate to attack Radek. Likewise, Radek, after the pain in his waist began to subside, took a stance and prepared to attack. With a quick dart, Kenway advanced to launch another attack on Radek. Arriving directly in front of Radek, Kenway immediately swung his sword again. Without hesitation, he aimed for Radek's neck, but Radek successfully parried the attack, and although he was a bit overwhelmed, Radek managed to withstand Kenway's attack once more. His defense almost faltered, taking a step back as he blocked Kenway's attack. Kenway's eyes moved upward, and Radek could see the movement of his eyeballs. Radek then predicted that Kenway would attack from above, and his guess was right, Kenway quickly swung his sword from above. As he had predicted, Radek's right hand, holding the wooden sword tightly, immediately protected the upper part of Kenway's target, his head. Radek could see a gap, Kenway's defense was wide open when he attacked from above like that. As if he didn't want to miss the opportunity, Radek quickly punched Kenway hard in the chest, causing Kenway to fall back and lose his balance. Kenway could feel the pain in his chest and his breathing was a little difficult. Kenway collapsed because he couldn't keep his balance after being hit by Radek. He coughed, Radek's attack had hurt him. Radek did not stop when he saw Kenway sitting limply while coughing and immediately launched a follow-up attack. Radek immediately rushed towards Kenway, then jumped into the air while attacking Kenway again. Knowing that Radek would continue his attack, Kenway immediately dodged the follow-up by jumping backward as hard as he could. His breathing was ragged from Radek's blow earlier, so he had to force himself to move immediately. Kenway sat down in a crouch, panting, holding the wooden sword he had stuck into the ground as he looked at Radek, who had failed to land an attack on him. Not caring if he had to struggle to get up, Kenway ran and then quickly counterattacked. He slashed his wooden sword at Radek in rapid succession, and Radek managed to parry it many times, occasionally counterattacking as well. The soldiers who witnessed the fight between Radek and Kenway could only marvel at the quick sword movements of Kenway and Radek. "What a great fight." "Looks like the prince was able to keep up with Radek, huh?" "Yes, we've never seen the prince fight like this." "He's only seventeen years old, but he's already that good." The watching soldiers talked to each other about the battle they were witnessing in front of their eyes. They had never seen their lord duel like this before, they knew that the lord often practiced sword techniques with the commander at the drill ground at dusk or at night when the drill ground was quiet, all they knew was that Kenway was only taught basic moves and some sword techniques by the commander. So it was natural for them to be completely unexpected and amazed when they saw Kenway's skill fighting so fiercely against Radek in the middle of the training ground. The commander watched the fight with the others, just listening attentively. Although he had felt anxious earlier when the prince had been hit, he felt there was no need to be overly worried about Kenway after seeing how he was currently able to keep up with one of his strongest soldiers, Radek. Now he was even enjoying the fight, even though he had forbidden Kenway from sparring earlier. The commander and the others standing nearby suddenly heard someone speak with authority. "It seems you have trained my son well." As soon as the voice reached his ears, the commander immediately felt defeated and helpless. Slowly, he turned to the source of the voice coming from his left. "Q-Queen?!" The commander stammered and stared at the queen. What he had feared had finally happened: Queen Veronica came to the training ground with her husband, King Joel. All the soldiers who were near them immediately saluted their king and queen. Meanwhile, in the middle of the training field, Kenway and Radek were still fighting. They attacked and dodged each other. Swinging swords, parrying, trying to hit, dodging, both of them were trying to find an opening while maintaining their defense. The sound of wooden swords clashing against each other could be heard at a rather fast pace. Kenway accidentally made a mistake, trying to s***h at Radek from the left side and leaving another gap in his chest. "Crap!" Kenway said to himself as he realized his mistake. Radek again parried Kenway's attack with the wooden sword he held tightly in his left hand, while his right hand again struck Kenway in the chest. Again, Kenway recoiled slightly, having been struck twice by the same attack. This time, however, he did not fall as before. Kenway tried to stay on his feet as he endured the pain mixed with the tightness in his chest. "Damn, I got hit by the same attack, it hurts." Kenway coughed after saying that. After taking a deep breath, Kenway immediately threw his wooden sword at Radek with all his might. The sword shot out quickly like an arrow, the tip of the blade pointing at Radek. "He threw his sword?!" Radek said to himself. Radek was surprised by what Kenway did. The wooden sword shot quickly at Radek's head. Instead of dodging the sword, Radek blocked it with his wooden sword. Kenway's wooden sword spun in the air after being blocked by Radek's sword. Because Radek's attention was focused on Kenway's wooden sword, he didn't realize that Kenway was right in front of him. Because Kenway was smaller, he only had to lower his body slightly to find a gap in Radek's defense. Not wanting to waste the opportunity, Kenway wanted to launch an attack on Radek, whose defense was wide open. Radek's right hand, which held the sword, was still pointing up because he had used it to block Kenway's sword attack. "Your gap is open, soldier," Kenway said to Radek as he struck Radek's lower jaw. "He moves so fast!" Radek said to himself as his body fell. Kenway moved his fist up and down with all his might until Radek was lifted slightly. His punch was so powerful that it knocked Radek, who was bigger than him, half unconscious. Kenway looked at Radek lying on his back in front of him, then picked up Radek's wooden sword that had slipped from his hand. Kenway then pointed the blade of the wooden sword at Radek, who had fallen in front of him. The wooden sword battle was won by Kenway, Prince of the Sun Kingdom. There was loud applause. Kenway proudly raised his hands and looked around. Everyone applauded, including the commander, King Joel, and Queen Carolina; they were all proud of Prince Kenway. "Father? Mother?" Kenway's expression immediately changed from a proud smile of pride to a look of bewilderment.
