Evans’s POV The boys were upset. They frowned when I entered. Eli was the most upset. He avoided eye contact with me. He was surely holding a grudge against me. Roxie went to them and pulled them into a tight hug. Fortunately, the other children had left. Roxie let go of them and asked, “What is wrong?” Eli lowered his head, and he was tearing up. I had to do something, but neither of them was giving me the chance to do so. Suddenly Eli looked up at me, with his teary eyes and trembling voice he yelled, “I don’t want her as my sister. I don’t want that. I hate you.” It was heartbreaking to hear my son tell me he hates me. I tried to get close, but he hid in his mother’s arms.
