Chapter 13The crackle of gravel under the tires echoed up through the van when the son took a hard right turn. “You see it, Asshole?” asked the father, his eyes on Sean. “Yeah,” answered his son, shaking his head at his new nickname. “On the other side of the lot, past the work trailer.” The father nodded. “You know, I’m half surprised you haven’t offered us any money,” he said, his statement directed at Sean. Sean scoffed. “Money for what? Gas?” “He means to let us go,” said Lisa, irritated.
