Chapter 40Sean fired his pistol until he was out. He dropped it to the road and shoved his fingers back around the motorcycle’s handgrip, drawing it straight again. The windbreaker he’d taken from the ranger station formed a bubble at his back from the speed. He knew he’d hit Montoya. He’d seen the gun fall from his hand and the way his body lumbered backwards. But the man wasn’t done. Sean watched him scuttle to the other side of the police cruiser, limping with his arm folded across his chest.
